Not certain why I made this, but I made this:

Admittedly, I can expect in all likelihood that 4 of these characters I'm predicting won't make it to the final cut. All we know is that there is at least one more newcomer video coming, and that has a high probability to be Villain Oriented.

As of 7/18/14

Smash Bros 4 Characters Revealed:
1. Mario (Final Smash: Mario Finale)
2. Link (Final Smash: Triforce Slash)
3. Pikachu (Final Smash: Volt Tackle)
4. Kirby (Final Smash: Ultra Sword)
5. Donkey Kong (Final Smash: Konga Beat)
6. Samus (Final Smash: Zero Laser)
7. Fox (Final Smash: Landmaster)
8. Yoshi (Final Smash: Super Dragon)
9. Luigi (Final Smash: Poltergust 5000)
10. Captain Falcon (Final Smash: Blue Falcon)
11. Peach
12. Bowser (Final Smash: Giga Bowser)
13. Zelda (Final Smash: Light Arrow)
14. Sheik (Final Smash: Light Arrow)
15. Marth (Final Smash: Critical Hit)
16. Mr. Game & Watch (No Profile Yet)
17. Charizard (Final Smash: Mega Charizard X)
18. King Dedede
19. Diddy Kong
20. Zero Suit Samus (Final Smash: Gunship)
21. Ike
22. Pit (Final Smash: The 3 Sacred Treasures)
-Dark Pit as an alternate costume. Voice Pack Included.
23. Olimar (Final Smash: End of Day)
24. Toon Link (Final Smash: Triforce Slash)
25. Lucario (Final Smash: Mega Lucario)
26. Sonic (Final Smash: Super Sonic)
27. Villager (Final Smash: Dream Home)
-One alternate male version and two alternate female versions.
28. Wii Fit Trainer (Final Smash: Wii Fit)
-Male Wii Fit Trainer as Alternate Costume
29. Mega Man (Final Smash: All Star Finale)
30. Rosalina (Final Smash: Power Star)
31. Little Mac (Final Smash: Giga Mac)
32. Greninja (Final Smash: Night Slash)
33. Mii (Gunner Final Smash: Triple Laser)
-Three Variations each customizable in 32 different ways.
34. Palutena (Final Smash: Black Hole and Ultra Laser)
35. Pac Man (Final Smash: 8 Bit Pacman)
36. Lucina
37. Robin (Final Smash: Unison Attack with Chrom)
-Female Variation included

Characters confirmed via Whiteboard:
38. Meta Knight (Also note that the Halberd is a returning stage)
39. Wario (Also note that Waluigi and Ashley are both marked as Wario Characters)

Characters confirmed via Series Inclusion:
40. Ness (Mr. Saturn and Franklin Badge items)
(Note: Any fighters above this number will go against Sakurai’s statement that there will be no more playable characters than there where previously TECHNICALLY)
41. Ice Climbers (Polar Bear in Smash Run)
42. A Surprise Character! (Character from Captain Rainbow or Rhythm Heaven. Sneaky Spirit leans it in favor of Rhythm Heaven.)

Speculation and Low Priority Returning Characters:
43. A Xeno character, likely Shulk (Mechon Trophy in Smash Run Rumor.)
44. ONE MORE POKEMON (Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, or Sceptile)
45. Isaac from Golden Sun (This is a stretch as he was simply not shown off during the assist trophy demonstration.)
46. A villain from an already established series in the game. (2Fat, 2Big, 2OP, or 2Sexy)
47. An updated Ganondorf
49. ROB
50. Lucas
51. Falco (Note: it’s been suggested that Falco or Wolf take over Snake’s Moveset if Snake does not reappear.)
52. Wolf (NOTE, May Hold Priority Over Falco Due To Villain Status!)

Characters likely not returning:

  • Dr. Mario (Note that Dr. Mario did have code pertaining to him in Brawl, however was cut due to time constraints)
  • Young Link (Forever replaced by Toon Link)
  • Pichu (Note that Pulse and Minim where set to replace Pichu, however was cut due to time constraints)
  • Mewtwo (Note that Mewtwo did have code pertaining to him in Brawl, however was cut either due to Time Constraints or his similarity to Lucario)
  • Roy (Note that Roy did have code pertaining to him in Brawl, and could actually be added to the opening cutscene via a cheat device. He was likely cut due to time constraits)
  • Squirtle (Because Charizard was separated from the Pokemon Trainer, and Greninja took the spot of a Water Type Pokemon in the game, Squirtle will likely be demoted back to a Pokeball or cut all together)
  • Ivysaur (Because Charizard was separated from the Pokemon Trainer, Ivysaur is an odd one out amongst the Pokemon not being in his fully evolved form. If he returns, it will be as a Venasaur. However, the counter speculation that Septile might be in the game to accommodate a middle generation representation makes Ivysaur irrelevant.)
  • Solid Snake (Kojima had stated he was not aware of Solid Snake being back in the game, and invited Sakurai to add him in again despite not wanting to bring Ground Zeros/The Phantom Pain to the Wii U. However its likely too late to add snake back in and the previously mentioned not bringing Metal Gear to the Wii U makes Snake’s chances almost dead.)

I also have a feeling a Fatal Frame character might wind up as an Assist Trophy.

The CoroCoro reveal is going to be about stuff that we already know. They won't reveal anything new.

Where did you get that from? I thought the official CoroCoro site was what revealed that the entire roster would be in the next issue.

So I beat Game and Wario today, and I noticed this in the ending…

That's right, the Chorus Kids appear in it, along with the reporter and the wrestler. So later on, I looked up a few things and found that the Space Rabbits from Wario Ware also appear in Rhythm Heaven Fever. Along with young cricket, from Wario Ware.

It may just be because the same teams made both games, but there is a chance that the 2 games are one universe. So if the Chorus Boy do appear in Smash Bros, will they possibly be a part of the Wario series?

@Shi

Well, the Yoshi, DK, Wario, and now potentially the Rhythm Heaven universes are all within the larger Mario universe, and yet they're all categorized as separate series in all three previous Smash games. I wouldn't see why they'd suddenly be merged.

Are you thinking of it as a possible alt attire?

No, that wouldn't even make any sense. Shulk and Robin play nothing alike.

In Xenoblade, Shulk's most iconic non-Monado art is Backslash, an attack that deals double damage when he's positioned behind an enemy. Why would the mechanic of an attack dealing extra damage from behind exist in Smash Bros., especially to be used by Robin? Fire Emblem doesn't give any bonus for attacking your opponent from behind (It's not even possible to attack your opponent from behind in Fire Emblem). The fact that this mechanic exists in Smash Bros. provides evidence of Shulk being a playable character. Though that does leave the question of why Sakurai gave Robin this mechanic.

PRECISELY!

Maybe the new Great Fox Stage will have some sort of twist. Like, Aparoids suddenly attacking, or stuff like that.

Somebody has been watching Game Explain~

And yeah, it would be cool if the stage changed dynamically based on what planet you visited.

I just realized Sakurai has pretty much admitted that Clone Characters are easy as hell to make when he remarked that Lucina was originally going to be an Alt for Marth. So this might mean that Lucas, Falco, Wolf, and Captain Falcon's Dad Ganon (sigh) will quite easily be back. That would just leave Game & Watch, Meta Knight, Wario, Ice Climbers, Ness, Jiggs, and ROB with the full workloads for the game. So the rest of the Brawl cast can VERY easily be back.

Green Hill Zone was recently confirmed to be in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, also confirming Brawl stages being in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS alongside Melee stages. Is it possible that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will also have Melee stages alongside Brawl stages?

That means that we could see this in the Wii U version.

What have we learned today? Takemaru is not the Surprise Character.

But this does confirm that there are likely more assist trophy reveals on the way.

We also learned that Sakurai's confirmed to be an Assist Trophy,

I got bored and made an actual roster for Super Bash Sisters from the past three games. I had to make sure the characters added at least existed back then to include them in the rosters.

*Kamek is technically male but I always thought Kamek was female so here she is.
*Pokemon unless stated otherwise can be male or female so Pikachu and Jigglypuff are female in this alternate universe.

*Slippy gets the same treatment as Kamek. I used to believe Slippy was female because of the female voice actor used in Star Fox 64.
*Zelda and Sheik are separate characters.
*Nana goes solo.

*I can't find a replacement for R.O.B. so his slot is given to ZSS since Zelda and Sheik are separate.
*Brittany never existed back in Brawl's development and the Pikmin's gender are unknown so… Pikmin are playable.

I definitely make one for SSB4 but I'm waiting for the full roster either by the Japanese 3DS release or the roster gets leaked for real.

These templates have been floating around so I decided to fill it out:

Only rule I played by was "no confirmed or deconfirmed characters", minus the "Most Wanted" section anyways (spoiler alert, btw).

Any other Square character outside of Mallow (lol) wouldn't have a chance, though.

Their relationship with Nintendo is far from stellar. Unless if Square was trying to promote a game they are coming out with in Smash Brothers they would not vouch to include a character in the game. (Which quickly limit down what Nintendo platform games Square has released in recent years… Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Bravely Default? Maybe Bravely Default but that stretch is so big it snaps almost immediately)

I feel we won't be getting new 3rd Party Content for the game unless if Namco pushes for DLC for the game. Then we might get a few more Namco Characters.

I wouldn't call Bravely Default a stretch, it was a pretty successful game, even to the point where Square themselves were shocked at how well it sold. Add onto that the fact that Bravely Second is currently in production. I wouldn't say it's likely at this point, but I wouldn't say it's hopeless.

Am I the only one who's slightly disappointed by the roster so far? It's not anything terrible and I'm still definitely buying the game, but I'm just a bit sad that loads of stuff I wanted didn't make it in. Of course there's still plenty of characters to go and all that, but as of now, it's not exactly the ideal roster for me. One complaint I have is that they clearly went back on two things they said which is they would level out the characters more and no clones. So far, it still seems like there are some ridiculously overpowered characters (like above, Robin can absorb health. That sounds balanced how exactly?) On the clones, there's still less than before, but they didn't stop it. Some of these characters could have just been different skins to save time but they're still characters to take up slots for some reason. (Ex: Toon Link and Lucina)

A more personal issue I have is the characters I wanted in, some blatantly deconfirmed like Dark Samus. Dark Samus was one of the biggest hopes as a character I had for this game and it got smashed into tiny little pieces. It's not just Dark Samus herself, it's also more the concept that most likely there will be no more Metroid characters outside of Samus again. Metroid is like the 3rd or 4th most popular series Nintendo has yet they only include Samus. You can't use the excuse that there are no other characters outside of Samus anymore aside from Ridley (who I do agree is too big) either. There's Dark Samus who's deconfirmed. (If you want to bring up that Dark Samus is a Samus skin, if you actually played MP2 and 3 you'd know that's not true. Her abilities and attacks in those are mostly different, enough to warrant a different character in my opinion) There's also Rundas, and all the hunters from Prime Hunters. Hell, even Anthony from Other M would be better to me than just Samus, but as shown by the 7 or something other hunters, scraping that low isn't necessary.

Lastly, there's no villain representation still which I thought they would fix since they fixed the female representation thing. There's Bowser and most likely Ganondorf just like it has been for a while. (To me Dedede doesn't really count since he's been good for so long. Nowadays he's like an anti-hero instead)

SUMMARY: Well, if you bothered to read my giant wall-o-text at all, just know that this is a personal little rant and that I'll still probably love the game. I just felt like expressing some concerns I've been having since I'm sick of containing all of it. I've tried to express it in the comments but I always just get downvote bombed and I hope you guys'll be more understanding. It's just my opinions probably not many people have so I don't expect them to change the game just for me or anything.

@Clones:
Reveal 10 Brand New Characters with Original Movesets, and nobody bats an eye. Reveal one New Clone and

@Dark Samus:
What a lot of people don't realize is that the Dark Characters oftentimes evolve into completely new characters despite being a variation of the original. This is more true with Dark Samus where her moves and abilities differed very largely than Samus, but on the outside nobody ever requested it (yes, it), because people who haven't played the series thinks it's a clone like Dark Link.

Hell, with Dark Link and Dark Pit all you have to do to make them original is change their loadout and you have completely different characters.

We still have a chance of another Metroid Character, but it seems slim.

(Personal opinion about Dark Samus: Wasted opportunity but oh well.)

@Villains:

Look; Wario, Meta Knight, and Gannondorf have not been re-revealed yet. All villains and all pretty much garenteed to return. Just because they haven't been revealed yet doesn't mean they aren't in.

Like I predicted before, the next trailer will likely be Villain Oriented. We will get a wave of Villain Return Confirms and at least one new one. Be patient.

Again, it's just kind of my own thoughts but I can see your points. About the clones, yeah, I am overreacting, but that's what most of my post was, overreacting. I admit that.

I still think Dark Samus would have been great but yeah, what's done is done. (I'm not sure what Dark Samus' gender is. Since Dark Samus is technically a Metroid I guess it would carry over the gender of the Metroid, but it also has Samus' DNA which is why I along with loads of other people call it a "she". I just decide to call it she mainly because that's how the games refer to it as well, but that's just some aesthetic BS that doesn't really matter in this case. It can be called anything for all I care.)

For Wario, I never remember him being a villain ever. He mostly just stays in his own games and all the Mario spin-offs like Kart racing and sports. I've yet to see Wario legitimately antagonize Mario, so in my eyes, he's not a villain. As for Meta Knight, I think he's the same as Dedede since he's only been "bad" for two games and one was because of a misunderstanding, so he's more an anti-hero in my eyes, so the way I see it, still just Bowser and Ganondorf and possibly one or two more. Then again, I do sound awfully strict on how I choose villain characters. I guess it's my fault then. I still would like to see more purely evil characters and I do hope you're right. Most of my issues I have so far as I've said are only at the moment problems. I'm confident that lots of the things I've addressed are going to be solved between now and release time.

Wario debuted as the main antagonist of Super Mario land 2, so that's why he counts as a villain.

Honestly, I doubt any more metroid characters will be revealed. Sakurai already (technically) gave metroid another slot with ZSS. I suspect that any more new characters revealed will be from new franchises.

I want to clarify that Dark Samus is female. It's confirmed in both Prime 2 and Prime 3 via her logbook entries. For example, in Prime 3:

"Morphology: Dark Samus. Phazon energy-based entity. Disrupted by Hypermode attacks.
Target is composed of pure Phazon energy and is highly unstable. Scans indicate that Hypermode attacks are capable of disrupting her, likely a result of Hypermode being energized by Samus's body. Dark Samus is capable of generating "echoes" of herself to aid her in battle. These units are used as increased firepower and act as distractions while she replenishes her energy; they should be destroyed immediately. She is capable of absorbing energy from Phaaze to replenish her own.
[Scan while recharging] Dark Samus is absorbing energy from Phaaze itself to replenish her own."

Dark Samus was actually one of the characters I wanted most for the game. I see so many people saying "She's just a clone of Samus". It's abundently clear that these people have never seen her in action. Her abilities differ greatly from Samus, and she even has some that are totally unique to her, like generating phazon shields.

When Meta Knight is revealed, I want to see him beating up the Mii Fighter impersonating him either as a PotD or the group images that would accompany him on his reveal.

Really? I've always kind of known that Nintendo attempts to sexualize ZSS as much as possible in Smash, but this just makes it blatantly obvious. Here comes the metric tons of R34, as if there wasn't enough already…

I know that the costume already had sex appeal to it, but I honestly don't consider it to be nearly as bad as it could have been. Like, they could have gone with the bikini from the end of Metroid II. Or Dead Or Alive tier scantiness.
