Magical Changing Picture for the Page Get

And I kinda compiled my guess for the final roadster, though it's kinda non-specific.

Smash Bros 4 Characters Revealed:
1. Mario
2. Link
3. Pikachu
4. Kirby (Final Smash: Ultra Sword)
5. Donkey Kong
6. Samus (Final Smash: Zero Laser)
7. Fox
8. Yoshi
9. Luigi (Final Smash: Poltergust 5000)
10. Peach
11. Bowser
12. Zelda
13. Sheik
14. Marth
15. Charizard (Final Smash: Mega Charizard X)
16. King Dedede
17. Diddy Kong
18. Zero Suit Samus
19. Ike
20. Pit (Final Smash: The 3 Sacred Treasures)
21. Olimar
22. Toon Link
23. Lucario (Final Smash: Mega Lucario)
24. Sonic
25. Villager (Final Smash: Dream Home)
26. Wii Fit Trainer (Final Smash: Wii Fit)
27. Mega Man (Final Smash: All Star Finale)
28. Rosalina (Final Smash: Power Star)
29. Little Mac (Final Smash: Giga Mac)
30. Greninja (Final Smash: Shadow Claw?)

Characters confirmed via Whiteboard
31. Meta Knight (Also note that the Halberd is a returning stage)
32. Wario (Also note that Waluigi and Ashley are both marked as Wario Characters)
33. Mr. Game & Watch

Characters confirmed via Series Inclusion
34. Captain Falcon (Samurai Goroh Assist Trophy)
35. Ness or Lucas (Mr. Saturn and Franklin Badge items)
36. Ice Climbers (Polar Bear in Smash Run)
37. A Fire Emblem Awakening Rep (Arena Ferox. Will likely involve Robin or Chrom. However, note that Chrom and Gaius both won the first popularity poll for what characters Japanese gamers want to see in the new Smash Brothers)

Speculation
38. Mii’s (The Stage Find Mii has hinted at this for a long time. Also, Reggie has hinted that he will be included in the game in some way, shape, or form.)
39. An updated Gannondorf (Recall how Sakurai stated that when updating Yoshi, he wanted to keep it under wraps as not to cause too much of a disturbance. This may be the same case.)
40. Kid Icarus Uprising representative (PURE speculation territory. Though if Sakurai doesn’t include another Kid Icarus character I will be surprised at how modest he suddenly is. Also note that Dark Pit and Palutena are two characters who were in the top 20 popularity poll Japanese gamers wanted to see.)
41. A Xeno character, likely Shulk (Baseless Speculation besides Xenoblade’s popularity)
42. A Namco character, likely a Tales character or Pac Man (SFlag Assist Trophy clone included in the game. Lloyd, Luke, or Yuri on the fact the co-director is the director of the Tales of Games, and Pacman on the grounds that it’s Namco’s mascot and Namco is working on the game)
43. The fully evolved form of a Grass Type Starter Pokémon (Speculation. It would complete the Pokémon Elemental Triangle. And because Pokémon Gen 3 is getting a Remake. Sceptile?)
44. Isaac from Golden Sun (This is a stretch as he was simply not shown off during the assist trophy demonstration. )
45. A villain from an already established series in the game. (King K Rool and or Hades. Note that Ridley has been confirmed as a Stage Boss, but keep in mind Sakurai’s tendency to play with expectations. Also note that Hades has the potential of being the Story Mode final boss if Sakurai gets cheeky)
46. A representative from the Inazuma Eleven series. (Note that one of the characters from that series was in the poll results of the top 20 characters that Japanese gamers want to see)
47. Hatsune Miku (!?!) (Very low chance, but she was in the poll results of the top 20 characters that Japanese gamers want to see. If she does get in it will make her the first 4th party character to ever grace the series.)

Low Priority Characters for Sakurai’s Team that therefore might not be returning or added:
• Lucas or Ness depending on which one isn’t added first (they are clones of one another)
• Jigglypuff (Was low priority in Brawl)
• Falco (Clone Character)
• Wolf (Was low priority in Brawl)
• ROB (Has yet to be mentioned at all)

Characters likely not returning:
• Dr. Mario (Note that Dr. Mario did have code pertaining to him in Brawl, however was cut due to time constraints)
• Young Link (Forever replaced by Toon Link)
• Pichu (Note that Pulse and Minim where set to replace Pichu, however was cut due to time constraints)
• Mewtwo (Note that Mewtwo did have code pertaining to him in Brawl, however was cut either due to Time Constraints or his similarity to Lucario)
• Roy (Note that Roy did have code pertaining to him in Brawl, and could actually be added to the opening cutscene via a cheat device. He was likely cut due to time constraits)
• Squirtle (Because Charizard was separated from the Pokemon Trainer, and Greninja took the spot of a Water Type Pokemon in the game, Squirtle will likely be demoted back to a Pokeball or cut all together)
• Ivysaur (Because Charizard was separated from the Pokemon Trainer, Ivysaur is an odd one out amongst the Pokemon not being in his fully evolved form. If he returns, it will be as a Venasaur. However, the counter speculation that Septile might be in the game to accommodate a middle generation representation makes Ivysaur irrelevant.)
• Solid Snake (Kojima had stated he was not aware of Solid Snake being back in the game, and invited Sakurai to add him in again despite not wanting to bring Ground Zeros/The Phantom Pain to the Wii U. However its likely too late to add snake back in and the previously mentioned not bringing Metal Gear to the Wii U makes Snake’s chances almost dead.)

Jigglypuff is basically confirmed. They've been in SSB since N64 days. I think it would be silly if they didn't get in. Miku's out. I think Sakurai said at one point that he only wanted characters originally from Vidya. Doubtful, unless I was wrong or Sakurai lied to us.

I still would've liked to see Plusle and Minun as playable. Why is it that all the Pokémon I like, never get playable. And before you say something like "Your favorites are terrible competitively", may I remind you that there has been Pokémon like that playable before.

I marked Jigglypuff as Low Priority because all the characters who where not featured in the Subspace Emissary (Wolf, Toon Link, Jigglypuff) where all finished just before Brawl's deadline. True, character priority may have changed but for the time being that's what I'm going to assume.

And Hatsune Miku was out-of-the-blue on that official contest.

I don't think she will actually make it in, but the existence of her in the results still leaves a slight chance.

And speaking of that poll, Chrom now leads as the most wanted not already confirmed/deconfirmed character. Followed by Miku (hah), Dark Pit (At most Pit will likely feature an alternate voice reel for his Black Color Pallete), Palutena (Most likely on this list), that Inazuma Eleven character who I don't know the name of (intresting pick, but if there was to be a Level 5 representative I would want Proffesor Layton instead), and Gaius (Even if there was 4 Fire Emblem representatives, I think Sothe would be a better fit for a Theif Class).

I don't get this whole "the original twelve are safe forever and always" myth that's popped up. Last I remember, Jigglypuff was an absolute joke in Brawl and was widely hated – even though she was a popular character in the previous two games. I think that Captain Falcon came close to being cut from Brawl at one point, and even though he was also nerfed significantly, he still had a fanbase. Jigglypuff hasn't really shown up in Pokemon-related media in years, so I think that if a character had to be cut, it would be her.

Yeah, but look at the points:

  • Chrom has 56 points.
  • Gaius has 6 points.

I think we're hoping for too much generousity here. Even Ike has more than 6 times the points Gaius got. Just Chrom would be assumable (with possibly Lucina as a female skin, due to the Wii Fit Trainer gender skins). But Gaius!? Nah, don't bet on it.

Miku as a third party entry…. I really can't say what the odds are there.

I overheard a conversation on /vg/ that basically suggested: What if Falco or Wolf took over Snake's moveset, and swap out all the weapons with the equivalent weapons in Starfox Assault?

I mean damn, if Snake can't get back in but can somehow live on though that I am all for it.

Also, on the topic of Wolf: I did say he was low priority last time, but I do realize Sakurai might bring him back to keep the villain cast diverse.

And speaking of movesets getting changed, I have a feeling any veteran not revealed yet may be getting an update like Zero Suit Samus, Sheik, and Yoshi did. Many of them have already been tweaked, but I have a feeling all the complete overhauls will be announced towards the end.

Crosses fingers for Ganon FINALLY getting his Trident

U GUISE!

The thing you're seeing in the middle is a Gamecube adapter, and will also be available in a special edition of Smash Bros.

I wonder if this will make Gamecube Games playable over the Wii Mode… well, I would understand if it was not since vastly different hardware, but still.

Not to mention, there isn't a Memory Card Port. So there is that as well.

Since the GCN Controller Adapter was revealed with the SSB4 Controller, do you think there will be more variations of the Gamecube controller in the near future similar to the Smash Bros controller?

It seems like this is a one time thing. The only other Wii game I'm aware of that used the GC controller was Mario Kart Wii, and obviously the Wii-U has options that fill the need for a standard peripheral, otherwise they would've released it along with Mario Kart 8.

Nintendo is resuscitating the GC controller for one reason, and that is to make SSB fans happy. They are a picky bunch who are used to playing with the same two games with the same controller for nearly a decade and a half. They are also the ones who will buy the game, and more importantly, buy the console so they can play the game. This is the Wii-U's killer app; the handhelds have Pokemon to keep them afloat (and I can attest to this, because the only reason I bought my 2DS two weeks ago was a. because of the Gen 3 remakes being announced, and b. it was the last day they were selling them bundled with Pokemon X), and the consoles have this. They need to give people an additional incentive as insurance.

No need to tell me to please understand, because I understand.

Where there is Virtual Console on the Wii U, there is hope for Gamecube compatibility.

In the Super Smash Bros Direct, when the "Familiar Stages" were revealed, I saw only one Melee stage for 3DS and only one Brawl stage for Wii U. Can this mean that only one of the previous titles will have stages in SSB for Wii U or SSB for 3DS?

I have a feeling they are porting Melee stages over to the 3DS because it's a lot easier for 3DS to handle Gamecube Assets. Hardware has come a long way since the Gamecube Era, and they wouldn't have to downgrade the assets too dramatically to get Melee Stages onto the 3DS. As a result, the Wii U version is getting Brawl stages to compensate.

I think we should now discuss which stages we want in the new Smash Bros, as the roster seems complete(with secret characters obviously going unannounced). I'll just list the ones I want for the Wii U and 3DS versions here:

Wii U – Sprixie Kingdom(Super Mario 3D World)
Wii U – Fountain of Dreams(Kirby's Adventure/KIrby: Nightmare in Dreamland)
3DS – Tetris(Based on the Gameboy version)
Returning – Peach's Castle Melee
Wii U – An 8-Bit stage like Melee and 64's Mushroom Kingdom(Hopefully Mushroom Kingdom U didn't deconfirm this.)
Returning – Hyrule Castle(64)
Returning – Pokefloats(Melee)
Returning – Delfino Plaza(Brawl)
Returning – Hyrule Temple(Melee)
Returning – Yoshi's Island(Brawl)
3DS – Wario's Castle(Wario Land 3)
Wii U – A Yarn Yoshi-based stage(It has recently been confirmed that Yarn Yoshi is not entirely dead.)
Wii U – Chemical Plant Zone(Sonic the Hedgehog 2)
Wii U – Bowser's Castle(Mario series)

PS, I don't know if Melee and Brawl stages will be system-exclusive or if 64 stages are even going to be in this one, so I listed them as "Returning".

How could this happen? Where is Jigglypuff?

Jigglypuff is most likely a secret character in the new Smash Bros, since she's obviously returning.

Again, where is the proof to this? Sakurai hasn't ever made a statement claiming that all 12 original fighters would make it in to every installment. Jigglypuff was pretty much hated in Brawl, and she hasn't appeared in any promotional material since the end of the third generation.

On another note, it looks like there's an HD Super Mario World/Yoshi's Island on the playing field, which makes me a happy camper. Looking forward to the inevitable mass fangasm that will surely be brought about by this year's E3.

How do we know Jigglypuff is a "she"?
Also, I want Fourside from Melee returning. If it happens, it would be for 3DS. Or maybe they could get a better stage for Ness, since Onett was pretty awful IMO.

OK, DUUUUUUUUDE. LET'S GO SAVE THE WORLD, MAAAAAAAAAAAAN.

If you live near NYC, the Nintendo World Store is hosting a Smash demo for both the Wii U and 3DS.

This is what I have been training my body for!

I actually think Jigglypuff has a good chance of getting in again. Sixth gen added Fairy, the first new type in almost fifteen years, and Jigglypuff was given it as a second type. New Fairy moves would give them a way to keep a classic character fresh and get a good rep for the new typing (and through that get another good rep for sixth gen). It makes sense that they'd want to promote the Fairy type as much as they could and frankly, I think that people who play Smash would be much more resistant to an all new Pokemon rep, especially another one from sixth gen, than they would be to a returning character like Jigglypuff.

I'm not sure if they'll add another Pokemon past Greninja, but if they do my money's on Jigglypuff coming back.

Goddammit, I live too far away from NYC and I don't even get off for the summer until the 21st. This just makes me want Nintendo to release demos to the eShop for those who can't reach NYC or E3, if that's not too much to ask.

A new Fire Emblem Stage was revealed for the Wii U. Apparently, it's going to have pop up platforms and stuff like the 3DS arena.

But those large open skies… I have a feeling that something may come flying down out of it.

None of the Best Buys in my area will host the demo but I'm going to try to go to the Nintendo World Store on the 14th and play it there. Doing that would require me to reschedule my dentist appointment…

Precious Roy wrote:

I think I'm going to, even though I'm on vacation, and the nearest one is an hour away. Both events, if I can make it.

How do you do that awesome animated font?

Create the letters on a white background, merge the layers, and remove the center of the letters so that the middle is transparent.

Now just place the GIF you want in the letters behind the layer that shows the letters, each layer again, until you're done. Should take 30 minutes if you're fast and have the GIFs available already.

Of course I can't say what the font was he used.

I CAME SO HARD.

Anyway, there are two third-party characters I'd like to see: Sora (Kingdom Hearts, Square Enix) and a Team Fortress 2 (Valve) character, though I'd prefer Pyro or Demo. Sora because he's a well-known character with games on Nintendo handhelds who'd fit well with the likes of Mario and Kirby, and Pyro/Demo because come on. The KH stage could be Destiny Islands or The World That Never Was, and the TF stage could be 2Fort or Dustbowl. And as for Final Smashes, Sora could go into Final Form, Pyro could use his Apocalypse taunt on a larger scale, and Demo could have Medic drop in and UberCharge him.

Well, we've reached the final six hours until Nintendo at E3 begins. I may have school and a doctor's appointment in the afternoon, but will not stop me from watching the event. My body is ready!

Watching a live Twitter update of the Smash Round Table. Apparently Mr. Game & Watch is back in, and everyone's favorite cheese wheel Pac-Man is, in fact, confirmed. He can apparently turn into an 8-bit version, throw pellets and fruit, call on the ghosts, and use a fire hydrant for some reason. We can also assume that at least one Mother character is returning, since Franklin Badges were mentioned in the Smash Run demo during the tournament. Speaking of which, Zero won as Zero Suit Samus against Hungrybox as Kirby in a tight Sudden Death grand final.

Personal Want-list:
- New Metroid character (unlikely)
- Snake (unlikely and Kojima's a douche for not porting MGSV to the Wii U so he deserves it anyways)
- Captain Falcon (likely)
- Ness (likely)
- Chrom (likely and I've never played a Fire Emblem game ever but he looks badass)
- Shulk (likely and see above for reasoning except insert Xenoblade where needed)
- Meta Knight (likely)
- Magolor (unlikely)
- Ghirahim (in the middle on the scale of likeliness)
- Updated Ganon with weapon if no Ghirahim (likely)

All of it is hype. Pure, unadulterated hype.

And I love every single thing about it. Nintendo might have just won E3 completely, unless they make a sudden reveal tomorrow and fucking blow everyone's minds out of the goddamn world.

Looking at you, Star Fox. Make the move, Nintendo.
