At least we might see more footage of the games.
I can see there being two more character-revealing trailers in store before the 3DS release: one just before the Japanese launch of the game, and one just before the American/International launch (since Europe and Australia get the game around the same time). Of course, there'd probably be another before the worldwide Wii U release (which I'd imagine will probably be a unified or near-unified release date unlike the 3DS release).

There are already a few Pokemon character in the game, can't overdo it. Plus if they want to add a new Pokemon characters they probably look at the more well known Pokemon first (read: Not Keldeo). Zoroark is a better aim for a new Pokemon, plus I can see him work out better. And even then you have to remember that Nintendo already said they can't bring back all characters because it simply takes too much time. They won't be adding many new characters at this point, and if they do Keldeo is one of the last corners they look.
Pretty much 90% of what people call "great for Super Smash" can be confirmed to either not work out or highly unlikely. People get their hopes up too quickly, but just because we think they might work out doesn't mean Nintendo is certain to listen to our demands.
Ice Climbers, Pichu, Dr. Mario, and R.O.B. were all highly unlikely pciks as well. The only unrealistic choices are characters like Geno and DBZ Goku.
I think I understand Sakurai's choices a bit more (this isn't a rant so save your downvotes).
In Brawl, we got newcomers for Kirby, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Metroid (technically), Star Fox, Pokemon, and Earthbound. Ike replaced Roy I will not count it here. All of the series listed aside from Pokemon have NOT gotten a single newcomer. However in SSB4 Mario, Kid Icarus, and Fire Emblem got three, two, and two newcomers respectively. This must mean that Sakurai wanted to give the neglected series from Brawl some love and ignore the ones that were treated to newcomers before. He even killed off a rep from Star Fox and Earthbound.
I don't exactly agree with Sakurai's decision, but I can understand he doesn't want to ignore some franchises twice in a row. Ironically, this is also what many fans feel for series that got no characters this time.
Here comes what might be the full roster. I hope your bodies are ready.
If this is for real, then it means that Gematsu was right about everything except for Chrom/Lucina.

Odd. Dr. Mario's render looks different.
Faker than a pornstars tits. Here's the Ridley source:

Not quite… His wings don't quite match up, and neither does his jaw.
Also, Mario's render for this game was based on his pose for Super Mario Sunshine, so just because something has a basis on a previously-rendered image doesn't mean it's automatically debunked.
In any case, I think this leak is more believable than the one that I posted yesterday.

It may be different, but take a look at Mewtwo; one of his horns is clipping into Meta Knights box.
If we do get someone tomorrow, It could be Shulk based on his popularity in Japan. As someone suggested on r/smashbros, Sakurai reveals Shulk but he has a different render. Provided of course the render wasn't sent to a magazine to be published, I could see this happening just to fuck with everyone.
I could be dead wrong, but we may be getting two reveals possibly.
1. Tomorrows Japan-only 3DS Direct
2. Nintendo is apparently having a closed-doors Media briefing for Smash Bros 3DS at PAX Prime this Weekend. Pac Man was also initially revealed at the closed-doors event during E3, so hopes are high.

Meta Knight's shoes are a shade of purple – it could just be appearing oddly.
Even if this is fake, I'm hoping this is close to what the actual roster is.

Fair Point. Meta Knight does have some pink on his render.
And I agree, If this was the final roster, it would be amazing.
THERE WAS SOMETHING TO BE GAINED IN THE DIRECT!!!
Here's the trailer if you haven't seen it yet.
i guess it was monado friday, not monday
also xenoblade chronicles is going to 3ds
well gues…
The quoted post has been deleted.
It's on the US website too.
We got a new trailer in Japanese promoting the 3DS version of Smash.
Even though we knew Shulk was in from the leak, I still loved that trailer. I'm a big fan of Xenoblade, and It was fun to notice all the little nods and references, right down to the name of the Trailer.
Here's the music in the trailer, if anyone is interested:
Gaur Plains
Mechanical Rhythm
You Will Know Our Names (Absolutely stoked this and Mechanical Rhythm are in the game)
So, with the Shulk confirmation and the above freeze-frame shot of Ganondorf, does that mean that the Gematsu, ESRB, and Ninka leaks are all back on the table as potentially being accurate? Aside from Gematsu being wrong about Chrom, of course.
#IbelieveinGematsu and by that I mean #PleaselettheChorusBoysbeplayable
I stand by my theory back a few pages that Gematsu was just outdated information. "Pokemon from X/Y" was explained in an interview with Sakurai, Chrom was initially going to be playable, but was scrapped and replaced with Lucina(also confirmed in an interview), Sneaky Spirit in Smash Run, etc
I'd still say the Chorus Men/Kids/Boys/whatever still have a good shot of making it in. And they're adorable.
Also, Ganondorf appeared in the Shulk video leak with the same moveset as prior games sooo
The Chorus Kids have gone back and forth whether they would be in or not. One side says yes. Another side says no. From that side, one said they were at least considered but dropped during development. And another side says we are getting a RH rep, but it's actually Marshal.
I found the idea of the Chorus Kids to be playable ridiculous but overtime, I grown fond of them. I wanted to post this fan made trailer of them on a random weekday here just to mess with everyone. But unfortunately, I kept delaying it so I might as well post it now.
With Shulk confirmed, the Gematsu leak is now 9/11 of the characters it got right with only one dud (Chrom) and one unknown (Chorus Kids).
And speaking of leaks, there might be some truth behind this one based on the info it has for Shulk and from what we saw from the leaked videos of Bowser Jr.
The leak in question got the function of Shulk's Monado modes outright wrong. It's hard to take it seriously.
And speaking of Shulk, I KNEW it was coming. Gematsu or not. Actually pretty happy about it, and now I got to see Chuggaconroys reaction to it.

He listed five modes and described two he knew semi-accurately. The modes are as follows:
翔 (Jump): Higher jumps, lower defense.
疾 (Speed): Faster movement, weaker attacks.
盾 (Shield): Higher defense, slower movement.
斬 (Buster): Stronger attacks, weaker launch ability.
撃 (Smash): Stronger launch ability, weaker attacks, lower defense against launching.
I'd hardly say that the leaker got it "outright wrong".

The only thing he got wrong was what buffs are paired with debuffs. That's hardly a reason to take the whole leak as a joke.
Edit: Goddammit Cthulhu you beat me to it.
That's the thing, it was wrong. It was close, but it was still wrong. An educated guess does not equate to actual leaked info. If it was actually the leaker spilling this info, he would have worked for nintendo and would have known all the functions of the games characters.
And you can't argue it was just "Changed" later on like the Gematsu leak. He has the Release Canidate, so how in the hell could the actual leaker be wrong?
No. It's because the original leaker was SILENCED. Nintendo is insanely INSANELY strict and even had he not been INSTANTLY fired for leaking that info, he would have shut his god damn trap to avoid from either getting sued more money or from loseing his job.
All the other leakers running around are full of shit and can only give educated guesses.
It looks like the Japanese eShop has revealed the starting roster. You'll need a Japanese 3DS to check the Smash 3DS section under more details if you own one.

Starting roster? That's 36 characters! There aren't that many characters left to unlock! There's just Lucina, Ganondorf, Mr. Game & Watch, Wario, R.O.B., Bowser Junior, Dark Pit, Falco, Jigglypuff, Duck Hunter, Ness, Doctor Mario, the Mii Fighters and at least five other characters if the leaks are right.
Wait, that's about 17 characters – 19 if you're counting the two Mii variants. Okay, that's a lot, actually. But still, that's a huge starting roster, and I'm surprised that the second-party character and the three third-party characters are all unlocked from the get-go.
Quick question to anyone who played Xenoblade Chronicles… Who was talking at the end of the trailer. For some reason, he sounds like Dr.Eggman to me. I'm going to assume he's the game's villain and that he's the stage's boss character.

Never played it, but Reddit tells me it's a guy named Metal Face. Seriously.
Either that or it's Ridley, who has a British accent for no reason. It's a livin'!
Hm. I've been thinking about getting Xenoblade Chronicles, but everywhere I look it's really really expensive. The cheapest I could find was $80. I guess it must be a rare game.
To anyone wondering about the end of Shulk's trailer, the shadow isn't Ridley, it's actually one of the game's villains Metal Face, and will more than likely be the Guar Plains stage boss.
I was joking about the Ridley thing, just to let you know.
I have to wonder how many stage bosses there are going to be, considering how quiet Sakurai has been about them.
The bosses confirmed for now are Yellow Devil, and Ridley(?)

the order that characters appear (ex: shulk, pac-man megaman, sonic) is the same as on the leak!
Also, is the leak with Ridley and Mewtwo missing the Mii fighters?

I think the Mii Fighters take the place of the "Random" option when it comes to certain game modes (remember, you can't play as them online unless you're playing with your pals). Which is why they're not up on any of the rosters in question.
I just found out that they are starting to release music on the site for 3ds.
Here's some of them.
On the unlikely chance that this image is legit, and if this were to be be Ridley's official newcomer caption, I would laugh my ass off. (Fake or not, you have to admire the work that went into the render.)
I think that, if they are waiting to unveil a character trailer for the American 3DS launch, I think revealing a highly-requested character from Western players (be it Puff The Magic Space Pirate or any other popular character) would make the most sense even if the roster had been leaked at that point.
Because of all the Ridley talk on the internet as of late, I have one question. Why is it all of the "leaks" have used Ridley's look from Super Metroid and Metroid Prime? You'd think since Samus has her redesign from Other M they would use Ridley's look from that game as well. It's just one of those thoughts that crossed my mind and nothing more or nothing less…

My guess is that fans are figuring that he could work both a stage boss and a playable character, in the same way that Toon Link conducts the Spirit Tracks train unless he's on the battlefield. Sure, it sounds nuts, but that's what happens whenever you get into the speculative side of the Super Smash Bros. fandom.
Plus, the Ridley that's in Metroid: Other M (and by extension the Pyrosphere stage) is a clone of the original, and one could make the case that there could be room for the classic version of Ridley. Or maybe it's simply because people want to forget about Other M and remember the games in the Metroid series that were widely well-liked.

I think they just hate Other M Ridley's design. Other M gets a lot of hate from what I've seen and Other M Ridley was part of the complaints. They refuse to acknowledge the game's existence.
If Ridley is playable, Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, Other M, it won't matter which one they use as the default as they'll all likely appear in the game. One form is the default and the rest become alternate costumes.
The fans prefer to have Super Metroid Ridley be playable and Other M Ridley be the stage boss of Pyrosphere. I have seen the Concept Art of Other M Ridley suggested as the one the Smash team appears to be using based on how the tail from the Smash Direct closely resembles that Ridley.

The concept art looks a little better than it's official appearance. Mixing elements from both Ridley's and Other M Ridley's design would be a great idea because it can incorporate the best elements of both, and the proportions are perfectly suitable for downsizing.
Pic of the day is a bit tardy already. I wonder… False Alarm.
So basically tonight's pic of the day revealed an interesting tidbit when cross referenced with the ESRB leakers footage: The ESRB Leaker had not unlocked all the characters yet.
This means that there can be up to 5 more characters beyond the leaked number.
And OH MY GOD I am SO Happy There Is More!
