Part two of my Music Galore series is here. Who needs 15 minute extensions when you got one hour.

Speaking of Smash DLC, here you'll see a green and yellow arrow icon paired up with the CSS icons. It supposedly hints to another CSS and stage selection screen since they were hidden away in the game's code.

Um… actually, DLC was to be expected from a game made by Koei Tecmo. One thing their games (mostly Dynasty Warriors) is known for is a lot of DLC… mostly cosmetic DLC.
DLC for HW =/= Smash DLC, get your brain around that already. Smash will get dlc of some kind, I do not doubt that, but seriously, stop acting that new characters dlc is a certainty, because it ain't
Anyway, my thoughts on smash 3ds demo.
First of all, the controls feel weird, but I'll get used to them. The left trigger is a pain to press though, and is going to strain my hand real fast. The assist trophies' animations are awful too, I know they had to cut framerate, but they look horrible.
As for the characters, Mario, Link and Pikachu are still very much Mario, Link and Pikachu. I was never a Mario or Pikachu fan, so i don't really play as them, but Link is super fun to play as.
For new characters, I really don't like Mega Man. He just feels too… stiff. Villager on the other hand is pretty awesome. A little on the slow side, but I love his moveset. I especially like his down b.
Holy fucking shit, this demo is amazing.
I think I'm going to start using Villager as my main. He's way too fucking good.

I'm already enjoying Villager's style of attacking. He's going to be my 2nd main until I unlock Pac-Man this Christmas, Because Kirby is my favorite fighter.

Two robs??

That threw me off too but thinking about it, it made sense. That second icon is North American R.O.B.
When the game is released in October 3rd, that version will be the default in the international version while the red and white color scheme becomes an alt.

Did I say anything about character DLC in my post? No? I thought so.
Apparently, K Drama Stars has claimed that the game will be getting a release on November 25th. Whether this is a unified international release or if it's just for Asia is not known at this time. The pictures that they had of the roster didn't match up in terms of the style that was shown at the E3 Invitational Tournament, but it (mostly) does match up with the ordering of character placement on the 3DS roster, even though the rows are set up differently (and there are some extra spaces reserved for certain franchises, it appears). It's possible that the E3 Build simply had a different design at that phase in development, though.
What's interesting about that roster is that it appeared to have a 3×17 format – which would mean there are 51 slots, which could be either 50 characters and a "random" option or 51 characters (with the "random" option offscreen or something). In the meantime, the 3DS version had 49 characters at launch. On the chance that this image is real, that would mean the Wii U version would have 1-2 characters that have yet to be revealed (which would be patched in later for the 3DS version to keep in line with Sakurai's plan to keep the same roster for both games). Of course, the idea that they changed the screen format late in development may screw these images over depending on your perspective.
…Okay, now you can complain about me talking about character DLC. :P

Those set of images are from the Best Buy CSS Leak. That whole thing dates back to a week before E3 2014. It's all fake.

Alright, I figured there was something fishy about those pics. I admittedly thought I had seen them before, but I wasn't quite sure. Still, I felt like talking about them on the chance I was wrong about that.
But on the bright side, at least the window for the release date should be solid, right? A rumor has said that it comes out November 21st, and this has said it comes out on the 25th. It sounds like late November is the targeted release date for this game based on those two bits of information – and that'd be perfect timing for Black Friday and Christmas sales!
This demo wipes away basically all the fears I had about this game. It hits that perfect balance between Melee and Brawl. It also seems to be balanced (granted, I only played with 5 characters). The only problem I have is that some of the moves have painfully long recovery.

From what I've heard so far, the characters are actually almost-completely balanced this time around. That is to say that a fight between Ike and Jigglypuff would not be one-sided in the slightest this time around. For any problems that could show up later, well, that's what patching's for.

Played the demo.
The game definitely feels overall Tighter than Brawl. I found myself paying a lot more attention to spacing and move ending lag than I would have in Brawl. Also a lot of timing, something I didn't used to do unless if I was playing as Ike.
The game also runs pretty damn smoothly. I wasn't getting any framerate issues and the game looks a lot less jittery and pixilated than it does in the screenshots.
Unfortunately, what also wound up happening was the default control setup made it hard for me to hit the Special Button, but this is somewhat of a universal problem.
That I plan on fixing once I get the option to adjust controls.

Peoples have trouble with the control scheme? I keep the tip of my thumb between the A and B buttons, pressing to the sides when needed, and it works fine for me.
General question: For people who have played the demo, which newcomer do you like more? I enjoy playing as Mega Man, but the Villager seems like an overall stronger character to me.

I'm gonna rant about Mewtwo here. Yes, I know, opinions of popular characters are not allowed but…
I'll be downvoted to high hell because its my opinion of Mewtwo not appearing in Smash.
I mean, fuckin' hell! So what, Mewtwo didn't make it?! I know, Mewtwo is popular as hell, but think:
Would it satisfy them anyway? Or would they bitch about the changes made from the Melee incarnation?
This is just one of the reasons for non-returning fighters. The roster needs to remain at least somewhat fresh, and Mewtwo would need to be changed to fit the new mechanics.
And the problem lies there. I think Nintendo would very much rather have people bitching on forums about a missing character than have a shitstorm because an old character is 'too different'. and stagnate the metagame with the same ol' fighter. This leaks into the consumerbase too. Its pretty blatant that those wanting Mewtwo in Smash 4 are a bit of a minority. Would Nintendo, a big shot company with a fuckhuge fanbase, listen to a few people asking for one thing? No. Granted, yes, Mewtwo appearing in Smash 4 is a dead dream. But the truth is, I'd rather it be that way. This way, the roster can keep cycling with different characters and styles.
I wouldn't worry about the controls, as they are probably gonna be adjustable. I also don't care because I rest the entirety of my fat thumb on all 4 buttons and tilt my thumb on the according button.

I'm still more disturbed by the return of Dr. Mario than by the not return of mewtwo.
Thought it's in their style. I mean: Look at Mario Kart 8: We have Mario, Metal Mario, Tanooki Mario and Baby Mario. Holy clonage! That's Mario x 4
Oh yeah! There are also four Peaches!

Another rumor. It confirms the whole 11/21/14 release date rumor is true, and also posits the following:
- The 3DS/Wii U rumor character link is true. The "Final Four" that have previously been rumored through 4Chan, along with Impa.
- You can also transfer custom movesets and parts between versions.
- There are a total of forty new stages (counting the ones shared with the 3DS version) and 15 retro stages. Every series with a playable character has at least one new stage for it.
-"The big new mode is called “Tower of Smash”. It’s a 100-Floor Tower, with each floor containing three doors showing what character + stage. You choose a door, and fight a 1-on-1 single stock match against that character, with various rules in place. This includes slow/fast mode, one where you’re put at 300% and the opponent 0%, and one with all Pokeballs, just to name a few. In this mode, you pick four characters at the beginning (must be all different), and each one represents one life. You can switch before each battle, but when one dies, they’re gone for the rest of your Tower of Smash run. The more floors you consecutively beat, the better your rewards…if you lose all your lives, you can start from the 10th, 20th, 30th, etc. if you reached that far before. Unlike in All-Star, you’re healed between matches. The 9th, 19th, 29th, etc. floor is a special Boss Battle. These have you fight against special Boss characters, such as Dyna Blade and Mecha Dragon. There’s an unlockable Boss Rush mode as well, the room set up like the classic Mega Man Boss Rush Room, where you can challenge all the Bosses in a row."The concept behind this "Tower Of Smash" sounds interesting, provided it's real.
The guy behind the "Tower Of Smash" rumor from a week ago claims that this is the Wii U stage roster.
I'm a little disappointed that they didn't bring back Brinstar Depths or any of the Nintendo 64 stages, and there are a few more 3DS-shared levels than I would have personally liked, but it's a good selection of stages overall.
New leak? I doubt it since the three characters are using the same poses from the 3DS trophies. Another reason to doubt it is the miiverse post wasn't removed for those three but because of the characters that weren't officially revealed.

Something I particularly like about the game now is that the attack hitboxes only surround the part that's attacking.
In brawl, Link's and any other sword users hitbox would extend from the tip of the sword all the way down his arm and to the center of his chest, like so:
But in the case of Smash 4, the hitbox only extends down to the hilt of the sword itself, meaning if somebody like Link is standing too close to the opponent, the attack will phase right through them.
Just look at this gif of Samus completely missing Jigs because her foot didn't actually hit her:
It's a small change but a really great one.
GameXplain has uploaded a new discussion video about the new leaks that have surfaced.
Do you kids like rumors? Of course you do!
Another character piece – it posits that character patches are happening. It doesn't really match up with the other rumor, which is kind of suspicious – though they did say they only had a piece of the information, not everything there is to know about the roster. The two characters they mentioned were Isaac of Golden Sun and Lest from Rune Factory (the latter sounds kind of off to me).

OK, I've been trying to avoid leaks like the plague (I'm lookin' at you KFC), but can someone tell me weather or not Wario's in Sm4sh? I'd google it, but I REALLY don't wanna run into any leaks…

He's in.
Evidence for possible DLC stages. (Spoilers for anyone who doesn't know the full stage roster.) If nothing else, it does seem odd that there would be a suspicious blank spot on an otherwise full screen, and if this leak is true, then it would make sense of it being there in the first place.

The 3DS version reviews are in and there's a Metacritic rating of 86.
Someone made a Brawl mod where you could play as Ridley (not the boss, but Ridley as a regular smasher). It's actually put together pretty well.
So, is anyone interested in exchanging each other's Miis for Smash?

So anyone planning a KYM Smash bros. Tourney when the game gets released? It be a fun way to celebrate the game's release.
There's a guy playing the english version of smash on Twitch going over Classic Mode as every character it looks like.
In one run as Roy Koopa he got the crowd to chant what appears to be, "Roy's our boy!" around 04:41:33 and at 04:44:58.
Looks like I've found my new main.
apparetnly college football fans like smash bros
It's out.
It's fun.
Discuss.
I've got my copy, how about you?
This is the first time I've posted in this thread. I haven't been following any news on SSB, but I do own a 3DS. I could buy this game. I should buy this game. I'm gonna go buy this game.
Smash obtained.

Debunked. The Great Cave Offensive is going to be the new Kirby Stage.
This is why I don't believe in Leaks. All of them are completely debunked with the drop of one bit of news.
We finally have a release date for the Wii U version!
I'm fucking dying
So now that we've had a few days to smash some bros, what are we all thinking here? I'm fucking loving Smash Run, it's an absolute blast.
I want to like Little Mac, really I do. However, his Up B is straight up only, which REALLY limits its recovery potential. His side B has probably killed me more than anything else in the game so far. When I executed it. Still, he's fun to play, and I'm hoping some of his alternate moves fix this.
Meta Knight still seems pretty OP'd to me. Cleared 100-man smash without breaking a sweat.
Trying to get used to the customization thing. Something about a speedy Bowser or a super-sluggish Sonic is pretty amusing to me, but it all seems very finicky. It's not possible to test some moves (Can't grab Sandbag) or how much your defense reduces/increases damage.
Do those silver and copper coins add up to gold ones eventually?
OH GOD THE CREDITS GAME. THE FUCKING CREDITS GAME. I CAN'T STOP. Is there a bonus for getting 100% on it? Maybe a later challenge? Set 2 doesn't have it.
The most important thing: They put Ness back in. Ness plays more or less the same as he did last time. I am happy. Gotta get that PK Fire into down throw.
Impressions on the less important stuff: The option to make every stage Final Destination is just too tempting to resist. I haven't played hardly anything in non Omega mode, but Omega mode is still cool. Smash run seems cool, but I haven't tried it all that much.
As far as the new characters go, I've only gotten into Bowser Jr. extensively. I'm not that good with him, but boy is he fun. So many projectiles. So many explosions. So much drill.
@MIMU: 100% gets you 100 coins. Pretty nice, no?

Yeah, but I've gotten just shy of 100% and around 260-ish hits and I still got the hundred coins.
Also, Falcon Punch can be turned now. Oh lawdy. And turning it makes it even more powerful.

I guess my general thoughts:
This game perfectly shows off the design flaws of the 3DS almost perfectly. Using the Shoulder Buttons and the Face Buttons are unweildy and hurt your hand if you play for too long.
The game itself however works just fine, the tuneups to the general gameplay system are a breath of fresh air that puts more thought into strategy. Much of the cast has insanely low Priority allowing you to be countered more easily. Also Hitboxes no longer extend from the center of the character allowing many of the sword characters not to feel Nerfed due to their reach.
All the non-clone newcomers are top notch, though a bit more thought could have been put into Palutena as her default attack settings feel lacking, especially next to the other Mage character Robin.
The new clone characters are almost direct rips of the other clones, and seem like they only have their own slot due to Nitpicking (Dark Pit not being able to use the 3 Sacred Treasures for instance). And the returning clone from Melee just serves to rub salt in Mewtwo fans wounds and eyeballs.
The New Stages are Great and easily overshadow the returning stages.
Smash run is fun if you pick a heavier character with high priority in his attacks. Many of the enemies from Smash Run do not suffer Hitstun of any sort making them nightmares to fight. Not to mention that sometimes the spawn rates of enemies in Smash Run is outright unfair at times spawning multiple high level enemies right on top of you. As for a local multiplayer mode it seems a bit too impersonal, only facing off agianst the other players at the end of the match.
Online mode worked fine when playing with friends.
And overall… the core game is insanely well polished. The presentation on the other hand seems a bit sub-par compared to the previous iterations in the series though, but it's one of the sacrifices we had to make for both a portable and a console smash.
