Ah Yes, My X Technique, I Haven't Used It Since the Heian Era refers to a series of memes imaging the character Sukuna of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga and anime coming up with a previously unheard of ancient technique that he supposedly hasn't used since the Heian era. The memes, which often use a piece of fan art of the character, reference Sukuna's plot armor and frequent glazing of the character in the community rather than a real event in the manga.
Origin
On December 14th, 2023, artist and X[1] / Twitter user @Vihurah posted fan art of the character Sukuna, with the artwork gaining over 770 reposts and 5,500 likes in 10 months. On January 29th, 2024, Vihurah posted the artwork in the /r/Jujutsufolk[2] subreddit, receiving over 220 upvotes in a similar timeframe.
On January 5th, 2024, Redditor Volarevia29 posted a caption meme that referenced the character Sukuna's plot armor in the manga series, parodying the writing of the manga with the caption, "Ah yes… I didn't use since Heian Era." The post (shown below) garnered over 1,600 upvotes in the /r/Jujutsufolk[3] subreddit in 10 months.

In late January 2024, the phrasal template "Ah yes, my X technique, I haven't used it since the Heian era" achieved viral popularity in the /r/Jujutsufolk subreddit and on X, with the caption often being combined with the artwork of Sukuna by X user @Vihurah.
For example, on January 28th, 2024, X[4] user @kurrrto posted one of the earliest notable versions of the meme, which received over 710 reposts and 9,000 likes on the platform in three weeks (shown below).
On February 8th, X[5] user @Fodimin posted a parody meme that referenced the character Yuku Okkotsu's "Copy" technique in the manga. The post (shown below) garnered over 1,900 reposts and 23,000 likes in eight months.
On March 8th, 2024, X[6] user @tskmartinsen posted a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure meme based on the format that garnered over 310 reposts and 3,500 likes in seven months (shown below).
More memes based on the format were shared on X, Reddit and other platforms throughout 2024.
