About

Beyoncé?! (Gun Shot, Screaming) is a reaction video popularized via Stan Twitter memes around mid-2022 from the Nigerian movie Beyonce: The President's Daughter, in which a woman screams Beyoncé's name and then shoots her. The viral scene inspired a TikTok trend in early 2023 called Shoot Beyoncé Or X Trend in which people had to choose something or "shoot Beyoncé," with most of the content being sarcastic situations in which people would shoot the singer.

Origin

In 2006 the Nollywood movie Beyonce: The President's Daughter was released in Nigeria. The story centers around Beyonce, the president's daughter who meets Raj at the Super Market and falls in love with him. In one scene, actress Appiah, who played Ciara, shot a gun at Beyonce, played by Nadia Buari. The moment resurfaced on June 16th, 2022, by X[1] user @gay_reactions, which amassed over 4,000 likes and 1,000 retweets in a year. (shown below)

The full scene was posted on YouTube[2] on November 29th, 2022, by user liammoore9560. The video (shown below) amassed roughly 73,000 views and 3,600 likes in a year.

Spread

The meme remained a prominent reaction video on X / Twitter until early 2023. For instance, on October 13th, 2022, X[3] user
Arven @hello_arven posted the scene as a reaction on a tweet about Beyoncé's lyrics. The post (shown below), received roughly 35 likes and five retweets in a year.
