About

Charge Your Chromebook, also known as Daily Reminder To Charge Your Chromebook and Don't Forget To Charge Dat Chromebook, refers to a high school and middle school reference of the 2020s about Google Chromebooks which are given individually to each student and taken home by them after school. When students return to school and their Chromebook is not charged, teachers are known to be disappointed. In 2022, young creators on TikTok started reminding each other to charge their Chromebooks in memes and videos. "Daily reminder to charge your Chromebook" also became commonplace as a spam comment.

Origin

TikTok content regarding Chromebook charging started to manifest in early 2022. On January 3rd, 2022, TikToker[1] yeems_ posted a video about how she hadn't touched her Chromebook all winter break and needed to charge it, gaining roughly 617,000 plays and 127,700 likes in nine months, becoming the first known viral instance of a charging Chromebook video (shown below, left). On March 3rd, 2022, the TikTok[2] account charge_your_chromebook1 posted its first video, using a Goofy Ahh sound and having the TTS voice read, "Daily reminder to charge your Chromebook."
