The Chick-fil-a Sauce Cat or Sause Cat is a cat named Polly33, whose growth was measured in Chick-fil-a sauce packets by its owner on Reddit in December 2021. In October 2022, the images were posted to Twitter where they went viral, inspiring memes using the image and gaining viral spread through reposts. That November, the Redditor and Twitter page gave the final update on the sauce cat.

Origin

On September 22nd, 2021, Redditor kigbitties posted an image to /r/IllegallySmolCats^[1] where she shows off her kitten Polly next to two Chick-fil-a sauce packs in order to show how long she is, garnering over 18,100 upvotes in a year (shown below).

On December 12th, the Redditor shared another post to /r/IllegallySmolCats^[2] showing three updates on the cat's length measured with sauce, garnering over 300 upvotes in a year (shown below).

Spread

The post gained viral spread over the following year and inspired several memes. On October 14th, 2021, it was reposted to /r/Eyebleach,^[3] garnering over 29,000 upvotes in a year. On October 10th, 2022, Twitter^[4] gimmick account @DontShowYourCat posted the original image, writing, "2 sause long," garnering over 1.2 million likes in a month. On October 18th, Instagram^[5] user purpleyogurt posted a growth chart of the cat, garnering over 600 likes in a month (shown below). It was also posted to iFunny,^[6] garnering over 10,000 smiles in the same span of time.

Final Sauce Cat Update

On November 15th, Redditor kigbitties posted an update on Polly to /r/cats,^[7] sharing that she is now seven Chick-fil-a sauces long (shown below). The post garnered over 33,700 upvotes in a day. On the same day, Twitter account @DontShowYourCat posted the update, writing, "Sause cat final update," garnering over 193,000 likes in a day. The Reddit post was removed by moderators.
