About

#DisneyWithExplosions is a hashtag spread on Vine and Twitter with which people share remixes of clips from Disney films edited to include an explosion.

Precursor

The concept is similar to a popular video created by YouTuber Simone Rovellini and uploaded on June 24th, 2013 in which he edited Disney clips to have famous Disney princesses' heads explode.

Origin

On May 14th, 2016, Vine user Michael J Ruocco[1] uploaded a video from an old Mickey and Minnie cartoon edited to include an explosion (Twitter embed shown below).

Spread

Ruocco and Twitter/Vine users AWDtwit[2] and @CzBacklash[3] first spread the hashtag by creating an initial series of videos. Since then, others have joined in and the remixes have appeared periodically over the course of the following year. Most of the most popular examples come from Ruocco. Some include when Ruocco relaunched the project in April of the following year, gaining over 840 retweets (shown below).

Another popular example from Ruocco included a clip from Winnie The Pooh and the 100-Acre Wood which also gained over 800 retweets (shown below).
