Doakes Looking at Guerrero, also known as Doakes Side-Eyeing Guerrero, refers to a reaction image from the TV show Dexter showing the character James Doakes, played by Erik King, looking up suspiciously at the character Carlos Guerrero, played by Rudolf Martin. The image was a part of the James Doakes Reaction Images, which gained viral use in mid-2025. Like the others, Doakes Looking at Guerrero was used to portray suspicion in a series of image macros and tweets, often paired with the catchphrase, "But you can't prove it." The scene comes from season 1, episode 3 of Dexter.
Origin
On October 15th, 2006, season 1, episode 5 of Dexter titled "Popping Cherry" aired on American television. In one scene, the character James Doakes, played by Erik King, looks at Carlos Guerrero, played by Rudolf Martin, at his daughter's confirmation.[1]

On July 8th, 2025, X[2] user @ExtremeBlitz__ used a square-cropped version of the screencap, captioning it, "When I like bro’s comment on a random post so he knows I'm always watching," gaining over 134,000 likes in three weeks (shown below). The tweet is currently the earliest known use of the Doakes Looking at Guerrero image.

Spread
On July 9th, 2025, Redditor 662300 posted the image to the /r/Kagurabachi[3] subreddit, captioning it, "How it feels being in a power scaling debate and somebody puts Shiba above Hiyuki," gaining over 300 upvotes in three weeks (shown below).

On July 14th, X[4] user @NikTekOfficial tweeted the image, captioning it, "When your friend works at Rockstar and he says he’s not involved in GTA 6 development," receiving over 6,900 likes in 17 days (shown below).

On July 24th, 2025, X[5] user @oocdexter posted an exploited version of the Doakes Looking at Guerrero image in which Guerrero was replaced with actor Pedro Pascal, related to the Pedro Pascal's Anxiety Touching memes that were going viral at that time. In a week, the post received over 97,000 likes (shown below).
