Dude, Benson Is Gonna Be So Pissed is a catchphrase from the Cartoon Network series Regular Show used in memes that show Mordecai and Rigby in disastrous scenarios, imagining how mad their boss Benson is going to be. The jokes are similar to ones made about the dramatic profession of Regular Show episodes. The trend became commonplace on TikTok in 2024, predominantly set to the Regular Show outro song.

Origin

Currently, the first known usage of the meme was a tweet shared by X^[1] user @persona_idiot on October 24th, 2022, who wrote, "bensons gonna be pissed," to caption a scene from The End of Evangelion, gaining over 1,500 likes in two years (shown below).

Spread

On July 15th, 2023, Instagram^[2] user @xandillionaire_grindset posted a cropped screenshot of X^[1] user @persona_idiot's tweet, gaining over 272,000 likes in eight months. Soon after, on August 2nd, 2023, Facebook^[3] user Cap'n Ginyu shared a Dragon Ball iteration, gaining over 13 reactions in seven months (shown below, left).

On August 8th, 2023, X^[4] user @JozuJoestar tweeted "Mordecai and Rigby will be 4 galaxies away on a dying star talkin bout some 'Benson is gonna be pissed,'" receiving over 5,200 likes in seven months (shown below, right).

On August 17th, 2023, YouTuber^[5] Turbo Virgin posted a video iteration that referenced the video game ULTRAKILL, receiving over 3,400 views in seven months (shown below).

Memes using the catchphrase resurfaced en masse in March 2024, following multiple viral TikTok videos. The resurgence seemingly started with a Slow Fade-In video posted by TikToker^[6] @schlongi_bongi on March 23rd, 2024, showing the earth cut in half, gaining over 3.2 million plays and 721,400 likes in six days (shown below, left).

Others used the TikTok sound, like TikToker^[7] @pioneersgg on March 26th, 2023, who made a Fortnite joke, gaining over 1.5 million plays and 252,500 likes in three days (shown below, right).
