About

Rigby Has A Better Idea is a remix meme from the Cartoon Network animated series Regular Show. In the original scene, the character Rigby tells his friend Mordecai he can save their party by playing strange dance music in the cassette player. In the remixed edits, what Rigby plays is altered.

Origin

The scene originally comes from the 9th episode of Season 2, "Party Pete", which aired on February 21st, 2011.[1] Rigby tells Mordecai he can save their party, then turns on strange music and begins dancing to it (shown below).

On July 21st, 2018, Twitter user @ToastDemon_ posted a remixed version of the scene that replaces the strange music with the first second of the theme song from Craig of the Creek, another Cartoon Network TV series, gaining over 440 retweets and 1,400 likes (shown below).

Spread

Over the following several days, dozens of edits of the scene appeared on Twitter and YouTube, often making the song that plays last for an extremely short amount of time. For example, an edit posted by user @Samthesly used the first moment of Scatman, gaining over 6,400 retweets and 16,000 likes (shown below, top). In the replies to that post, user Dash2035213450 posted a version that used the first second of Shooting Stars, gaining over490 retweets and 1,200 likes (shown below, bottom).

The trend was less popular on YouTube, though some edits posted there were able to gain thousands of views. An edit posted by An Odd World of Mine / ぼくのオッドワールド using All Star gained over 27,000 views (shown below, left). An edit posted by AFY-Sama アニメ帝国 using the song "Anime Pu$$y" by Josip on Deck gained over 6,500 views (shown below, right).
