About

DYKTMM is a slang expression that is an abbreviation of the question "Do You Know the Muffin Man?" The phrase references a scene from the 2001 Shrek movie in which Lord Farquaad is torturing Gingerbread Man. The slang grew popular online after Twitter / X user tweeted a screenshot of Gingerbread Man with the caption *"It’s always 'wyd' never 'dyktmm'".

Origin

On May 18th, 2001, the Dreamworks Shrek movie was released on theaters, which included a scene of Lord Farquaad torturing Gingerbread Man to get the whereabouts of the other fairytale creatures, who asks "Do you know the Muffin Man?" (DYKTMM). The scene was posted on November 19th, 2018, on YouTube[1] by the @MOVIECLIPS channel, amassing more than 21 million views and 150,000 likes in six years.
