Shrek's Pizza refers to a Shrek-branded pizza place in Manchester, England. The location of Shrek's Pizza gained popularity in March 2020 and January 2021, with people jokingly speedrunning attending the establishment. Shrek's Pizza has since been shut down and has been replaced with Dixy Chicken.

Origin

The creation of Shrek's Pizza is unknown, but the Facebook account for the establishment was created in 2017^[1]. and primarily posted photos of the pizza place, the menu and the food (examples shown below).

Spread

On March 9th, 2020, YouTuber ^[2] BigMonkey posted a video in which Npesta "speedruns" finding Shrek's Pizza in Google Earth. The video gained over 79,000 views in 1 year (shown below).

In January of 2021, YouTubers again took interest in the pizza place, with some creators making videos of themselves going to the establishment and others making similar speedrunning videos. For example, YouTuber Oliver Kuiz posted a video of himself and his girlfriend going to Shrek's Pizza and realizing it had been replaced (shown below, left). On May 23rd, YouTuber PolarSaurusRex posted a video of himself explaining the meme, gaining over 89,000 views in 1 month (shown below, right).
