About

E E Ei, also known as E E Ei I'm on Vacation or E Ei Ei, refers to a misheard song lyric speech bubble meme showing a piece of meat or steak with eyes and teeth singing the song "Vacation" by Dirty Heads, pronouncing it "E e ei, Imon vagayxon." The meme added to other singing object memes like Oi Oi Oi Red Larva and Gegagedigedagedago with the Roblox Chicken Nugget. The steak's real name is Charlie the Steak from the 2013 iOS app game.

Origin

On April 17th, 2024, TikToker[1] @eeeioficial posted the earliest discovered instance of the E E Ei meme, showing a piece of raw steak singing the song "Vacation" by Dirty Heads but mispronouncing the lyrics as "E e ei, Imon vagayxon, Evrizingou dei, Cus ailov mawackupaxien." The correct lyrics are, "Ay ay ay, I'm on vacation, every single day, 'cause I love my occupation." Over two months the video received roughly 45,200 plays and 2,000 likes.

The meme went largely viral because TikToker[2] @eeeioficial posted another video on April 17th, using the TikTok sound[3] of the first video. The second video received over 216,400 plays and 17,500 likes over the same timeframe.

On June 10th, @eeeioficial's TikTok account was deleted for currently unknown reasons.

Spread

Going into mid-2024, the E E Ei TikTok sound[3] received mass usage. For instance, an early example was shared by TikToker[4] @.cloudyoon on May 11th, 2024, showing a phone overrun with E E Ei imagery, gaining roughly 4.2 million plays and 386,800 likes in a month (shown below, left).
