Overview

Genro E Sogro or Son-in-law And Father-in-law Cheating Scandal refers to a scandal in which a Brazilian discovered the love affair between her husband and father online. After discovering the betrayal in November 2023, she decided to share the story on Facebook, posting accusations and intimate videos of her husband and her father in a motel. The scandal was highly talked about on Twitter / X, as people began creating ironic memes, parody videos and jokes about cheating on the platform.

Background

On November 19th, 2023, Brazilian Camila Oliveira shared a series of posts on Facebook^[1] after she found out her husband was having an affair with her father. She went through her dad's cell phone and found intimate videos of the two at the motel, messages and vows of love. The posts have been deleted, but on November 20th, 2023, X^[2] user @DanPimpao posted a Thread explaining the whole scandal (screenshots shown below), which amassed over 26,000 likes and 2,300 retweets in five days.

Developments

After the Brazilian shared the scandal on Facebook, Oliveira uploaded a video (since deleted) setting fire to her husband's car. Neighbors of the couple recorded the burning car (shown below), which was later shared on X^[3] by @revoltadissimu, amassing more than 4.5 million views and 18,000 likes in four days.

The father-in-law started to argue in front of his son-in-law, causing havoc in the street, which led to him being beaten up by people nearby. X^[4] user @revoltadissimu shared the moment (shown below), which received roughly 4 million views and 11,000 likes in four days.

The scandal was covered by local media, quickly going viral, and the topic "Son-in-Law" became one of the most talked about on X and Facebook.

Son-in-law Response

Juninho Virgilio, the son-in-law, replied to a Facebook post (since deleted) alleging he was being threatened by his father-in-law to have intimate relations with him. X^[5] user @revoltadissimu shared the screenshot (shown below), garnering 8,200 likes and 865 retweets in four days.

Camila Olveira's Response

In addition to publishing screenshots of conversations between her husband and father, she made her WhatsApp^[6] available to transmit their intimate videos to anyone who wanted to receive them. Camila also replied to her husband's response by sharing all of his text messages with her father (shown below). In the screenshots released by Oliveira, Juninho Virgílio (son-in-law) and Edielson Oliveira (father-in-law) exchange spicy statements and talk about borrowing money.
