Background

Hoodgenius vs. Homeland Security Twitter Beef refers to memes and discourse surrounding NBA commentary X / Twitter account (@HoodG3nius) entering into a back-and-forth with the official U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) X account (@DHSgov) in mid-October 2025. That month, @DHSgov reposted a video showing a TikTok in which user @Floridanamedjit wrote, "ICE we're on the way. Word on the streets the cartel put a $50K bounty on y'all." X user @hoodg3nius quoted the tweet, criticizing them for "spreading misinformation," and alleging that the video was edited to include an anti-ICE message, prompting the official Homeland Security Twitter account to double down on their accusations.

Hoodgenius continued to post tweets goading and baiting the Homeland Security account in subsequent days. Several internet users reacted to the official Homeland Security account repeatedly responding to a supposed "NBA troll" page, and posted memes and jokes about the state of American politics and the Trump administration's public communications policy.

Overview

On October 17th, 2025, the official Homeland Security Twitter / X[1] account, @DHSgov, reposted a video seemingly posted by the now-deleted or renamed TikTok account @Floridanamedjit. The video showed a group of young Black men standing in a field and looking into the camera alongside text that read, "ICE we're on the way. Word on the streets the cartel put a $50K bounty on y'all." The caption on the video read, "FAFO. If you threaten or lay hands on our law enforcement officers we will hunt you down and you will find out, really quick. We’ll see you cowards soon."

The TikTok was no longer accessible on @Floridanamedjit's TikTok[3] page soon after the @DHSgov post, prompting several internet users to accuse the official Homeland Security Twitter account of spreading misinformation or doctored videos of young Black men and potentially endangering their lives.

Several internet users accused @DHSgov of posting an AI-generated video, including X[4] user @tonydechino, who tweeted a screenshot on October 17th that read, "Al finna have black people at crime scenes they were never at. Watch," gathering over 200,000 likes in five days.

TikToker[5] @mr.floridajhit reacted to the controversy surrounding @DHSgov's reposting of a video featuring him with an anti-ICE message, stating that, although he was pictured in the clip, he was not responsible for creating the caption on the video. The post gathered over 30,000 plays and 5,000 likes in five days.

The X[2] account @hoodg3nius made one such post, writing, "Spreading misinformation especially as 'the department of homeland security' should cause for the abolishment of that said department," and gathering over 63,000 likes in five days.

X user @hoodg3nius tweeted, "Spreading misinformation especially as “the department of homeland security” should cause for the abolishment of that said department," in response to the official DHS Twitter account posting an unverifiable TikTok showing a group of young Black men seemingly threatening ICE officers.

The @DHSgov X[5] account responded to @hoodg3nius's post, among others, doubling down on its accusation against the TikToker, writing:

WE HAVE THE RECEIPTS. This young man posted violent threats of murder against our law enforcement. He then deleted it when he was called out, and attempted to deny all wrong doing. We have the receipts, and the internet is forever. The willful ignorance and intentional blindness by leading Democrats to the massive increase in violent rhetoric against our agents due to their actions is both disgusting and disappointing. Violence against our agents and officers MUST STOP.
