About
Fent Fold, also known as Fenty Fold Trend or Fentanyl Nod, refers to a TikTok trend based on the nodding reaction to sedatives and opioid drugs like fentanyl, which can cause a user to go from alert to a deep sleep that they cannot be forced to wake from, often appearing bent over at the waist like their asleep while standing up. The trend gained traction on TikTok in early May 2024, typically featuring people reenacting the tweaking and trance-like behavior of addicts under the influence of opioids, which also sparked a backlash among some who perceived it as mocking drug addiction.
Origin
Although teenagers and rappers joined the nodding trend en masse in mid-2023, the earliest known version of the similar trend using the term "fent fold" was posted on April 7th, 2024, by TikTok[1] user @taylormailer. In the video (seen below), he did the fent fold movement while working on various cars at a garage. The video amassed more than 1 million plays and 147,000 likes in a year.
