About

Get Your Fucking Ass Up And Work refers to a quoted piece of business advice given by TV personality, model and actress Kim Kardashian during a March 2022 Variety interview promoting her family's new Hulu reality show, The Kardashians. The advice was seen as out-of-touch by many and inspired negative reactions and memes using it as a catchphrase online criticizing Kim for getting famous from a sex tape and having rich parents.

Origin

On March 9th, 2022, Variety published an interview with the Kardashians to their YouTube[1] channel in promotion of their new reality show The Kardashians. At the 5:11 mark, Kim said, "I have the best advice for women in business: get your fucking ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days." Her sister Kourtney then said, "That's so true." The video gained over 324,000 views in a week. Variety shared the interview in a tweet[2] highlighting the quote that day, gaining over 14,500 likes and 46,000 quote-retweets in a week.

"I have the best advice for women in business: get your fucking ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days. You have to surround yourself with people that want to work. Have a good work environment where everyone loves what they do, because you have one life. No toxic work environments and show up and do the work."

The advice gained significant criticism online starting the day the interview was released. On March 9th, 2022, actress and Twitter[3] user @jameelajamil quote-retweeted Variety and criticized the interview, gaining over 44,000 likes and 7,200 retweets in a week (shown below, left).
