Kim, There's People That Are Dying is a reaction image or GIF of Kourtney Kardashian reacting to her sister Kim Kardashian West being upset over a lost earring during a 2011 episode of the reality show Keeing Up With the Kardashians. The image has been used on Tumblr and Twitter in response to a petty action or statement. The image regained popularity in April 2020 during the coronavirus outbreak, often in response to ads.
Origin
On August 28th, 2011, season six episode 12 of Keeping Up With the Kardashians aired. In the episode, Kim jumps in the ocean while on a family vacation in Bora Bora and loses an expensive earring. After crying and complaining to her family, her sister Kourtney emerges from her hut and says "Kim, there's people that are dying" (shown below).
On September 5th, 2011, Twitter user @KourtneyGospel[4] made note of Kourtney's comment by simply tweeting "Kim, there's people that are dying" (shown below).

On December 10th, 2011, Tumblr[2] user rihported posted a two paneled image of the scene gaining over 30 notes in nine years. On May 26th, 2012 9GAG[3] reposted the image. On December 8th, 2012 Live Journal[1] user deviousweasel commented using the same image with the caption, "Kourtney is the secret funniest" (shown below).
On January 3rd, 2016, Tumblr[5] user Kimtherearepeopledying posted a GIF of the scene. On February 1t, BuzzFeed[6] included the moment in a collection titled, "34 Times Kourtney Was The Only Voice Of Reason In The Kardashian Family." On April 9th, 2018, Twitter user @IvyKnowlesPark commented on a video of Kim on the ocean saying, "She ain’t never gonna stop looking for that earring" to which @MiyahFye[7] replied with the reaction image of Kourtney and garnered 29 likes in two years (shown below, left). On April 6th, 2020, Twitter user @carolineframke[8] posted the image in response to Ellen Degeneres comparing her mansion to a jail during the coronavirus pandemic (shown below, right). The tweet gained over 90 likes in a month.
