About

Ibo Eshak, also known as Ibohammad Eshakur or Ibrahim Evans, is the name of a Hood Irony meme page admin on Instagram who runs the accounts @cumcoochie and @60percenthomo. Ibo Eshak became a meme within the 2017-2020 Instagram Hood Irony community, many of which centered on a running joke that he was rapper Drake and that Drake's name was secretly Ibo Eshak. @cumcoochie fell into obscurity in the early 2020s and @60percenthomo was deleted, causing Eshak to migrate to backup accounts with similar names. During the same timeframe, Spanish-speaking internet users discovered an edited photo of Eshak and created an Ibohammad Eshakur creepypasta. Eerie content featuring Eshak's photo trended on TikTok in 2023 due to the creepypasta.

Origin

In accordance with posts on the /r/Instagramirony^[1][2] subreddit in 2020 and 2021, Ibo Eshak was the name of the admin for the Instagram^[3] account @cumcoochie and the Instagram^[4] account @60percenthomo.

In 2019, a running joke in Instagram's Hood Irony community was centered on @cumcoochie secretly being Drake. Therefore, memes that labeled @cumcoochie as Drake and Ibo Eshak as Drake surfaced, such as in a May 13th, 2019 post from Instagram^[5] user @gang.manny (shown below, left). A post from Instagram^[6] user @gangster.hoodthug, shared on October 20th, 2019, showed a transition from photos of Eshak to Drake (shown below, right).

As of September 5th, 2023, Ibo Eshak's primary account is the Instagram^[4] page @60percent.homo. Eshak also makes meme rap music which he posts on Last.fm^[7] under the name 60PERCENTHOMO. On there, he only has one photo, which is an edited selfie (shown below). Going into 2023, the photo became the most widely used Ibo Eshak image in memetic content. Its earliest known post was on X^[8] on April 28th, 2021.

Years later, on August 13th, 2023, TikToker^[9] @muusuey posted a "Do you love me? Do you need me? Yes or no" video with the photo of Ibo Eshak, gaining roughly 1.2 million plays and 125,200 likes in three weeks (shown below, left). TikToker^[10] @muusuey posted another creepy video with an Eshak photo on August 13th, gaining roughly 40,600 plays and 590 likes in three weeks (shown below, right).

Spanish-speaking TikTokers started to spread the image online, such as TikToker^[11] @aanto._12 on August 16th, 2023, whose video gained roughly 245,600 plays and 13,500 likes in three weeks (shown below, left). On August 23rd, 2023, TikToker^[12] @sir_popcat posted a video that explained what the creepypasta was, involving an alleged, defunct YouTube channel where Eshak posted Arabic memes in 2008. The video gained roughly 1.4 million plays and 144,500 likes in 13 days (shown below, right).

News of Ibo Eshak becoming a Spanish creepypasta quickly spread to the Instagram^[13][14] Hood Irony community in viral posts that surfaced in August and September 2023.
