"I'm Beginning To See a Pattern Here That I'm Not So Sure I Like" is a quote originally said by PewDiePie in one of his videos. Online, it has been used as a reaction image pointing out a worrying or unsettling trend.
Origin
On June 10, 2019, PewDiePie uploaded the 41st episode of his Meme Review series,[1] where he reviewed the subreddit r/masterforgiveme. At 6:00 in the video (show below), he says the phrase in reaction to seeing a picture[2] of a cosplayer wearing the boots similar to his own and reflecting on how he doesn't like the similarity. The video gained 6,800,000 views over the following years.
Spread
The first meme using the format was posted to r/MemeEconomy on June 15, 2019, five days after the video was published. It gained 25,000 points in six months.[3]
The meme took a few months to gain popularity, with the next few templates not appearing until November of that year. The below examples was posted on Imgur and Reddit, gaining 1,800 and 25,200 points respectively.[4][5]
