Joe Rogan Shooting Tesla Truck With Arrow is an image of podcast host and comedian Joe Rogan shooting a Tesla Cybertruck with a bow and arrow, which was posted by Elon Musk on Halloween night in 2023. Musk notably appeared on Rogan's podcast (the Joe Rogan Experience) that same day and posted the photo to show off the Tesla truck's armor. In the post, he mistyped Rogan's name as "Rohan" leading to many memes comparing Rogan to characters from the Rohan territory in Lord of the Rings, among other things.

Origin

Just after 4 p.m. EST on October 31st, 2023, Elon Musk posted the image of Joe Rogan shooting a bow and arrow at the vehicle to X / Twitter, vaunting about the strength of the Tesla Cybertruck (seen below). The post received almost 260,000 likes in less than a day and over 20,000 reposts.^[1]

Musk made his fourth appearance on Rogan's podcast in a Halloween episode published just an hour before the X post. The first two hours of the two-hour and forty-one-minute episode were also streamed on X in a public video (seen below), which received over 80,000 likes in less than a day on October 31st.^[2]

During the podcast, for which both men were in costume, Musk discussed his reasons for purchasing Twitter (to fight the "mind virus" he claims is seeking the "extinction of humanity") and said that it was Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg who pulled out of the planned fight between the two tech oligarchs, not him.^[3] According to Zuckerberg, however, it is Musk who was evasive and unwilling to commit to a date, blaming a recent "neck surgery."

The full video (seen below) posted by Ian Miles Cheong, shows Musk smoking a cigar as he observes Rogan shoot the truck, which garnered over 432,000 views and 7,000 likes in two days.^[8]

Spread

Memes about Joe Rogan shooting the bow spread rapidly, many of them centering around the "Rohan" typo. For example, in Elon Musk's replies on October 31t, 2023, the X account @memeraus posted a meme that received over 3,800 likes in less than a day and pictured Rogan as a Lord of the Rings character (seen below, left).^[4] Meanwhile, X user @TheWapplehouse joked about the unnecessariness of an arrowproof Tesla (seen below, right), receiving over 29,000 likes in a similar timeframe.^[5]

Some saw the stunt as a kind of advertisement for Tesla's Cybertruck. A post by @markpaulryan which showed the Rohan picture next to a screenshot of search interest in the term "cyber truck" earned almost 2,000 likes in less than a day on October 31st (seen below, left).^[6] X user @drmistercody also criticized the Tesla advertisement for its strange premise, receiving over 5,600 likes in 24 hours on October 31st (seen below right).^[7]
