Keeshee is an anthropomorphic snake character and traveling mage created by artist NCS Artist for their webcomic series Wagon Thieves in 2019. The character gained a significant fandom over the following years, particularly with furries, inspiring fan art and memes about the character.

Origin

Keeshee first appeared in part two of the webcomic Wagon Thieves by NCS Artist, posted to the wagon_thieves Instagram[1] page on May 4th, 2019, becoming a main character going forward (shown below). Keeshee is introduced as a traveling mage.

"Oh hi! My names Keeshee! Nice to meet you!" Well she seems nice "You look new here, well I shouldn't just guess because I travel a lot as well and I mean a lot a lot, and really I'm just a traveling mage, I come and go" №3 "Oh yea I guess I could just ask you! Who are you random stranger that I just met?"

As Keeshee continued to appear in Wagon Thieves, NCS Artist started sharing more artwork of the character on their socials and people began posting fan art of Keeshee to sites like Newgrounds and FurAffinity. For example, on August 19th, 2019, Fur Affinity[2] user Didarax posted a piece of fan art, gaining over 2,400 views in four years (shown below, left). On November 10th, Twitter[3] artist @ArtistNCS posted a meme using Keeshee, garnering over 1,700 likes in the same span of time (shown below, right). On December 4th, NCS posted a reference sheet for the character to Twitter.[4]

On June 8th, 2022, NCS Artist posted a video to YouTube[5] titled "Various things Keeshee has Done….." garnering over 800,000 views in a year (shown below).

The character became increasingly popular throughout 2022 and 2023 as NCS Artist continued to post memes featuring the character. On August 27th, 2022, Twitter[6] user @artistncs posted a meme that gained over 28,000 likes in nine months (shown below, left). On March 24th, 2023, the same Twitter[7] user posted a meme that gained over 14,000 likes in two months (shown below, right).
