Origin

On March 31st, 2019, the YouTube channel Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell published the video "What If We Detonated All Nuclear Bombs at Once?" The post received more than 6.4 million views in one week (shown below).

That day, the video was added to the /r/videos subreddit [1] by Redditor Alecadabra, receiving more than 19,000 points (90% upvoted) and 1,200 comments in one week.

Additionally, that day, Redditor[2] TunaAlert posted a two-panel meme of an image of anime character Megumin reacting to the thumbnail of the video. The post received more than 8,400 points (99% upvoted) and 95 comments in four days (shown below, left).

On April 3rd, Redditor[3] Yolo04 posted an object-labeled version screenshot of the video in which a bird is labeled "Me," a bomb's detonator that the bird is pushing "my fiend telling my crush that we'd make a good couple" and the explosion "My crush saying 'Ew Gross.'" The post received more than 26,000 points (97% upvoted) and 570 comments (shown below, right).

That day, a variation of the meme was posted on /r/dankmemes by Redditor[4] toufiqimrose. The post received more than 42,000 points (98% upvoted) and 500 comments (shown below, right).
