My Name Is Gustavo x Cult Classic is a remix of Playboi Carti's song "Cult Classic" with a line of dialogue from a Los Pollos Hermanos training video promoting Better Call Saul where the character Gus Fring (played by Giancarlo Esposito) introduces himself to viewers, saying, "Hello and welcome to the Lost Pollos Hermanos family. My name is Gustavo, but you can call me Gus." The partial remix was posted to TikTok in June 2022 and inspired full remixes on YouTube in the following weeks, the original sound also going viral on TikTok that year.

Origin

On July 23rd, 2021, the Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul YouTube[1] page posted the video, "Los Pollos Hermanos Employee Training: Communication," part of a web series to promote Better Call Saul. In the video, Gustavo Fring introduces himself to prospective employees before cutting to an animation that explains some of the rules of Los Pollos, garnering over 4.7 million views in a year (shown below).

On June 25th, 2022, TikToker[2] @selindr__ posted an edit of the video set to "Cult Classic" by Playboi Carti where Fring introduces himself, subtitled, followed by a cut to clips of people making blue meth, garnering over 13 million views in three months (shown below).

On July 4th, 2022, YouTuber[3] yelooo posted a full remix of the song with the dialogue, gaining over 290,000 views in two months (shown below).

The original sound for @selindr__'s video became popular over the following months, garnering over 49,000 uses by September. Some of the most popular videos feature references to Better Call Saul or Breaking Bad. For example, on July 19th, TikToker[4] @engineeredlabs posted a video of a periodical table built into a wall using the sound, garnering over 53 million views in two months (shown below, left). On August 9th, TikToker[5] @jdp1777 posted a video of their teacher, who looks similar to Gus Fring, garnering over 14.9 million views in a month (shown below, right).
