Pedo Peter is the alleged nickname given to U.S. President Joe Biden by his son Hunter within the contact list and iMessages leaked during the Hunter Biden iPhone hack that happened on 4chan in July 2022. The nickname was thought to be Biden's because the President used to use the pseudonym Peter Henderson. It was also theorized to be a moniker for Naomi Biden's fiancée Peter Neal. Screenshots of the evidence surfaced first on 4chan and then spread to other social media like Twitter, causing controversy, speculation and conspiracy theories.

Origin

On July 9th, 2022, the same anon (ID:lHVZ7wd3) who hacked and leaked Hunter Biden's iCloud added a new post^[1] to the original "Hunter Biden offline iPhone Backup" thread^[2] that they started in /pol/. This follow-up post included a screenshot from the backup (shown below), wherein, iMessage conversations are visible between Hunter Biden and many contacts. The conversation highlighted in the screenshot shows a group chat between "Mom & Pedo Peter." Other conversations including the contact name "Pedo Peter" are also visible, like one that reads "Jill Biden & Pedo Peter." Additionally, the anon who shared the screenshot wrote in its accompanying caption, "Groupchat with mom and pedo peter and she is talking to her mom and hunter. Thats tame shit, iphone backup is full of Joe."

Anons started to speculate who Pedo Peter was amid the continuing thread. Two anons^[3][4] believed Pedo Peter was a moniker for Naomi Biden's fiancée Peter Neal. Other anons^[5] believed it was a nickname for Joe Biden given the moniker's inclusion within group chats featuring "Mom" and "Jill Biden."

On July 22nd, 2022, Twitter user and Editor-in-Chief of The National Pulse R.J. Kassam posted a tweet^[6] that cited an article his publication had written in October 2020 that revealed Biden used an email pseudonym of Peter Henderson. This pseudonym was based on the name of a KGB mole in Tom Clancy’s novels.^[7] Over the course of two days, Kassam's tweet received roughly 17,200 likes (shown below).

Spread

On July 10th, 2022, other Twitter^[8] users continued to share the original screenshot^[1] taken by the 4chan anon, subsequently linking it to 2020 articles regarding the Peter Henderson pseudonym.

Verified Twitter users started to add to the speculation. For instance, on July 10th, 2022, Twitter^[9] user and GOP Congressional Candidate for Florida Lavern Spicer tweeted, "Listen, I have my father saved in my cell phone as 'Dad.' Joe Biden’s son has his father saved in his phone as 'Pedo Peter.' Something is extremely wrong," earning roughly 19,600 likes in one day (shown below, left). Also on July 10th, Twitter^[10] user and Washington Post columnist Tim Young tweeted, "Joe Biden on Hunter: 'He is the smartest man I know.' Hunter Biden on Joe: 'Pedo Peter,'" earning roughly 15,600 likes in one day (shown below, right).

Memes surfaced using image macros of Joe Biden with text overlay reading "Pedo Peter." For instance, on July 11th, 2022, the Facebook^[11] page Texas True Patriots Trump JFK Jr Train reposted a meme made by Truth Social user TONYxTWO that had multiple images of Joe Biden touching people suggestively (shown below, left). The Facebook post received 30 reactions in less than a day. Also on July 11th, Twitter^[12] user realthinkmax shared a Pedo Peter image that received roughly 3,100 likes in one day (shown below, right).
