About
Amanda Shultz, also known as DJ Mandy or @amandashultz_ (not to be confused with the DJ named MANDY), refers to a TikToker that makes intentionally bad remixes and mixes with popular songs, playing a character that is "learning to DJ." Starting in 2023, DJ Mandy started to go LIVE on the app. In turn, she grew a large following with her videos gaining millions of plays. This occurred alongside screen-recordings of her LIVEs going viral, generating engagement back to her profile.
Online History
Amanda Shultz is a 19-year-old California college student.[7] The first, still-accessible TikTok[1] on DJ Mandy's profile was posted on August 11th, 2023, showing her poorly remixing Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" and Flo Rida's "Low," gaining roughly 1.4 million plays and 191,900 likes in two weeks (shown below, left). On August 12th, she posted another TikTok[2] that gained roughly 9.1 million plays and 1.3 million likes in 13 days (shown below, right).

In an interview with Insider,[7] DJ Mandy stated that she was inspired by TikToker[10] @jigitzz, who started a precursor "learning to DJ" series on August 7th, 2023.
DJ Mandy Breaking Character
On August 17th, 2023, TikToker[5] @irisonvr posted a video showing DJ Mandy remixing Soulja Boy's "Pretty Boy Swag" with fire alarm sounds. The video's caption read, "she broke," in reference to the video's end where it appeared DJ Mandy was laughing and breaking character.

Online Presence
Soon after, DJ Mandy started going LIVE on TikTok and earning viral reposts from others on the app. For instance, on August 16th, 2023, TikToker[3] @youngesheldonviral posted a recording of DJ Mandy, stating, "LET HER COOK π₯π₯π₯," gaining roughly 526,000 plays and 80,000 likes in nine days (shown below, left). On August 18th, TikToker[4] @duraflamesputhay posted a recording, reading, "She's getting better," gaining roughly 789,900 likes in one week (shown below, right).

On August 20th, 2023, X [9] user @WifexOfxAgony posted a clip of DJ Mandy, writing, "I love this tiktok girl who purposefully DJs poorly. The transition was so bad she had to go off camera to laugh," gaining roughly 279,600 likes in five days (shown below).
