Shigure Ui is an indie Virtual YouTuber illustrator and singer. The person behind the VTuber notably also designed Hololive talent Oozora Subaru She also grew popular in 2023 for her song titled "粛聖!! ロリ神レクイエム☆" (Shukusei!! Rori-kami Rekuiemu☆).
History
On March 18th, 2019, Shigure Ui posted her debut stream on her official YouTube[1] account. In the video, she introduced herself and then opened an Ask Me Anything session through マシュマロ (Romaji. Mashumaro. Eng. Marshmallow). She also revealed that she designed Hololive talent Oozora Subaru. The video received more than 327,000 views in four years (video shown below).
On August 29th, 2021, Ui uploaded her first cover song, featuring Subaru, of "adrenaline!!!" by TrySail.[2] The video received more than 5.6 million views in two years (shown below, left). On July 9th, 2023, Ui uploaded her original song titled "rainy lady" to YouTube[3]. The video received more than 402,000 views in two months (shown below, right).
Shukusei!! Rori-kami Rekuiemu
On September 10th, 2023, Ui uploaded music video for her original song titled "粛聖!! ロリ神レクイエム☆," to YouTube[4], which livestreamed on May 21st, 2022. The video received more than 13.4 million views in two weeks (shown below).
On September 14th and 18th, 2023, Ui uploaded YouTube Short versions of the music video to her YouTube[5][6], which received more than 3.3 million views and 2.3 million views in two weeks, respectively (shown below, left and right).
The Shorts versions grew popular on the site, as reposts, edits, and memes referencing it grew popular on social media. For example on September 19th, 2023, Facebook[7] page SEISO ねこ uploaded a Me In Public edit using the Shorts. The video received more than 4,900 reactions and 1,600 shares in one week (shown below).
On the same day, Instagram[8] user @ocotforger uploaded a video questioning why Ui's video always appeared in their timeline. The video received more than 15,000 likes in one week (shown below).
