South Korean Shooter Choe Dae-han is a South Korean sport rifle shooter who participated in the 2024 Summer Paris Olympics among other Olympic shooters, and ended in seventh in the men’s 10m air rifle event. A picture of Dae-han shooting with his rifle in an anime-like pose went viral on Twitter / X in late July 2024 and was used in memes, with many internet users creating redraws and fan art of him as a hitman.
History
Choe Dae-han was born in South Korea on November 30th, 2004. He participated in the Men's 10m air rifle competition at the 2024 Summer Paris Olympics, ending in seventh place. On July 30th, 2024, X[1] user @KimChi_Chic took a picture of Dae-han while he was aiming his rifle, captioning it as "That back tooch??? He really ✨served✨ the country." The tweet (seen below) amassed over 152,000 likes and 25,000 reposts in three days.
Online Presence
Many X / Twitter users posted about Choe Dae-han's stylish shooting posture, creating fan art and redraws of the athlete as a popular anime character. For example, on August 2nd, 2024, X[2] user @nobita_4 posted an illustration of Dae-han with the same art style as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga/anime. The tweet (seen below, left) amassed more than 177,000 likes and 27,000 reposts in a few hours.
On August 1st, 2024, X[3] user @vocalcry posted Dae-han's photo with a joke about his pose, which received roughly 156 likes and 13 reposts in a day (below, right).
