The Heisenberg Variant is a French cosplayer of the Breaking Bad protagonist Walter White / Heisenberg who often depicts the character in humorous scenarios, such as playing basketball or ordering food at McDonald's. Multiple videos created by the cosplayer went viral and found further use in memes within the Ironic Breaking Bad trend.

Online History

On September 26th, 2021, French cosplayer The Heisenberg Variant launched^[1] his Instagram account, launching a TikTok^[2] on October 14th that year(first Instagram post shown below, left). The Heisenberg Variant did cosplay of Breaking Bad protagonist Walter White / Heisenberg, uploading photos and videos to social media (example photographs shown below, center and right).

In the following months, The Heisenberg Variant often posted photographs and videos in which he, dressed as Heisenberg, engaged in out-of-character activities in the spirit of the long-running ironic Breaking Bad trend. For example, on December 12th, 2021, The Heisenberg Variant posted a TikTok^[3] video in which he as Heisenberg ordered food at McDonald's, with the video gaining over 2.7 million views and 417,000 likes in five months and going viral (shown below, left). On March 27th, 2022, The Heisenberg Variant posted^[4] a video in which he played basketball, with the clip gaining over 2.1 million views and 282,000 likes on TikTok in one month (shown below, right).

Multiple videos by the creator received viral spread as they were later used as source material for ironic Breaking Bad memes. For example, on March 30th, 2022, YouTuber^[5] ThottiYT posted a He Will Never Be Balling edit that used The Heisenberg Variant's clip, with the video gaining over 134,000 views on YouTube in one month (shown below).
