Yvng Mickey or Yung Mickey is a rapper known for his rap song parodies performed in a Mickey Mouse voice with lyrics referencing the character, as well as comedy skits where he plays Yvng Mickey, dressed in Mickey Mouse ears and Mickey-esque drip with a painted-on nose and white gloves. Yvng Mickey first posted on social media in March 2021 and became popular on TikTok and YouTube over the course of the year, covering popular songs including "Stay" by The kid Laroi, "BeatBox 2" by Spottemgottem and Drake's "Girls Want Girls." His songs are available on most major music streaming services including Spotify and Apple Music.

History

On March 2nd, 2021, Yvng Mickey posted his first song to YouTube,[1] a cover of Coi Leray's "No More Parties," featuring the lyrics rapped in a Mickey Mouse voice and the lyrics altered to reference other characters from the Mickey Mouse universe, including Minnie Mouse and Goofy (shown below). The video gained over 264,000 views in eight months.

On March 4th, Yvng Mickey posted his second video, a parody of Spottemgottem's song "BeatBox 2" rapped entirely as Mickey Mouse, gaining over 3.2 million views in eight months (shown below). On March 5th he released a parody of CJ's "Whoopty" to YouTube,[4] gaining over 686,000 views in the same rough span of time.

On March 8th, Yvng Mickey posted his first video to TikTok[2] on the @iamyvngmickey account. In the skit, a producer asks Yvng Mickey if he's ready to record and he says yes, then starts to sing the lyrics to Spottemgottem's song "Beat Box 2," transitioning to the fully produced version of the song as the producer vibes, gaining over 197,000 views in eight months (shown below).

On March 19th, Mickey posted a cover of Lil Tjay's "Calling My Phone" to YouTube,[5] gaining over 3.9 million views in eight months. Yvng Mickey uploaded the full version of "BeatBox 2" to TikTok[3] as an original sound and it became notably popular, inspiring over 44,000 videos by November (examples shown below, left). On March 22nd, Yvng Mickey posted a TikTok dancing to the song with a cup of lean in full Yvng Mickey drip, gaining over 321,000 views in eight months (shown below, right).

On April 8th, Mickey posted an edit of a music video putting Mickey and Goofy's faces over the rappers for a "rap battle" against Gangsta Goofy, another TikToker who does similar parodies in the style of Goofy, gaining over 936,000 views in seven months (shown below, left). A second rap battle between the two was posted on April 22nd, gaining over 2.1 million views in the same rough span of time (shown below, right). Yvng Mickey posted his first vlog to YouTube[6] on April 29th.

On July 13th, Mickey posted a version of MO3 & OG Bobby Billions' "Outside" to YouTube,[7] gaining over 1.1 million views in four months. The original sound inspired over 6,700 videos on TikTok in the same span of time, including a video by @iamyvngmickey on July 20th showing a 3D animated Mickey Mouse with regular human proportions dancing to the song, gaining over 7.7 million views in four months (shown below).

Yvng Mickey gained a substantial fanbase across TikTok and YouTube over the course of 2021, with over 350,000 followers on the former and 165,000 subscribers on the latter by mid-November of that year. He also garnered over 15,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.[8] The original sounds for his songs often become popular on TikTok.
