Person in Latex Sex Cube, also known as Latex Man in Sex Cube, Latex Sex Cube or the Latex Tesseract, refers to a viral video from a fetish Twitter account in which a woman is vacuum-sealed inside of a tesseract-like cube made of grey latex for sexual pleasure. The video was posted in 2021 but later went viral in early 2023, sparking viral discourse and memes about kink shaming.

Origin

On July 31st, 2021, Twitter^[1] user @Latexbold tweeted a video showing herself inside a vacuum-sealed, latex cube being flipped over by an assistant. Over the course of two years, the video gained roughly 1,900 likes and 9.1 million views (censored screenshot shown below, left). The video didn't receive memes until early 2023, starting with a quote retweet posted by Twitter^[2] user @MojoDisco on January 22nd, 2023, who captioned the video "Me preserving my partner after each date," gaining roughly 9,400 likes in four months (censored screenshot shown below, right).

On April 28th, 2023, viral discourse about the video started when Twitter^[3] user @islandthembo quote retweeted the video, captioning it, "this looks fun idk," receiving roughly 10,700 likes in four days (censored screenshot shown below).

After Twitter^[3] user @islandthembo's QRT, others on the platform reacted to their statement. For instance, on April 28th, 2023, Twitter^[4] user @changemyreality replied to @islandthembo, stating that their statement pissed them off, gaining roughly 1,400 likes in four days (shown below, left). Others reacted more humorously but were still skeptical of @islandthremo's statement, such as Twitter^[5] user @InfinityCodex98 on April 28th, who replied with a tesseract GIF, writing, "Who’s out here fantasizing being encased in a tesseract?!?!" gaining roughly 1,400 likes in four days (shown below, right).

Also on April 28th, 2023, Twitter^[6] user @sollana13 QRT'd @islandthembo, saying, "kink shaming is very valid. what is this?" gaining roughly 25,000 likes in two days. The "kink-shaming" statement eventually led to others defending @islandthembo, echoing the belief that the activity looked fun and saying it should be "kink shamed" was problematic. The predominant tweet of this nature was posted on April 30th, 2023, by Twitter^[7] user @latkedelrey who wrote, "why are you all so scandalized by this. this is like the mildest thing," gaining roughly 26,100 likes in two days. @latkedelrey later went on to say in a separate tweet,^[8] "'bring back kink shaming' over someone who really likes getting vacuum sealed? lmao," earning roughly 8,600 likes in the same timeframe (censored screenshot shown below).

Following @latkedelrey's statement, many on Twitter then reacted to her belief that the video was "like the mildest thing." Most of the reactions were light-hearted and humorous, showing nuance, in that, the memes took into account how the video was objectively strange but also @latkedelrey's statement was seemingly strange. For instance, on April 30th, Twitter^[9] user @heyyitsdidi tweeted a screenshot of @latkedelrey's QRT, calling her "terminally pornbrained," gaining roughly 4,100 likes in two days (censored screenshot shown below).

Meme creators then started to use a screencap of the video as an exploitable, inserting the latex cube person into different settings. For instance, on May 1st, 2023, Twitter^[10] user @funeralpig Photoshopped the latex cube into the MET Gala stairs, gaining roughly 45,600 likes in less than a day (censored screenshot shown below).

Going into May 2022, latex sex cube memes then spread to other social media sites.
