Pusha T and Salamanders, also known as Pusha T Impregnates Salamanders or Pusha T Fucks Salamanders, refers to a rumor started by Twitter bots that rapper Pusha T collects salamanders and impregnates them during the summer. Pusha T was specifically imagined to impregnate salamanders in 2000. The meme trended on Twitter in July 2023, leading to memes and mass discourse about Pusha T being attracted to salamanders.

Origin

On July 15th, 2023, Twitter^[1] user @robin766866 replied to a RapTV tweet about Yeat and Lil Uzi Vert, writing, "PUSHA T collects Salamanders and impregnates them during the summer 🌞," gaining over 270 likes in five days (shown below). The reply is the first known account to spread the rumor.

Later on July 15th, 2023, more Twitter^[2][3] accounts posted tweets and replies that used the same text as @robin766866's tweet.^[1] The slew of bot accounts spamming the phrase inspired memes on Twitter. An early example was sent by Twitter^[4] user @Deltron_3031 on July 16th, who captioned a GIF of SpongeBob sweating with, "Pusha T looking at that salamander like," gaining over 680 likes in four days (shown below, left). On July 19th, 2023, Twitter^[5] user @kirawontmiss tweeted, "PUSHA T DOES WHAT TO SALAMANDERS???" gaining roughly 36,300 likes in one day (shown below, right).

After @kirawontmiss' tweet, viral tweets^[6] and replies^[7] ensued that furthered the meme.
