Renaissance Faire Horny Beer Video refers to a viral TikTok video which depicts a woman serving a canned beer at a Renaissance Faire in a provocative and, according to some, overly-sexualized manner. Responses to the video sparked viral discourse and commentaries, as many criticized aspects of the video and joked about its erotic undertones (and overtones).
Origin
The video was posted by TikTok user @birdiesocal on May 14th, 2023. The TikToker @birdiesocal (whose username is ZemosSugarBaby) appears to be the person drinking the beer in the video. The original TikTok received over 13.1 million views, over 2 million likes, and over 18,000 comments in the course of nine days.[1] According to @birdiesocal, the video was taken at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Irwindale, California, an event which has been ongoing since 1963.[3]

The person doing the pouring appears to be @joyful_aura, a TikToker who has posted many other videos from Renaissance Faires which show them behind the bar, serving beers in a similar manner. For example, the TikTok posted by @joyful_aura (seen below left) on May 15th, 2023, earned over 1,500 likes and 32,000 views in a little over a week.[2] TikToker @joyful_aura's beer-pouring routine had gone mildly viral several times before. For example, @reinbewpastel posted a similar interaction on April 22nd, 2022 (seen below right) earning over half a million likes and almost 4 million views over the course of a year.[4]

Spread
The video spread to Twitter[5] on May 19th, 2023, when @discolitaa shared it. Their tweet earned over 54,000 likes in the course of four days (seen below).
Some argued that the video was inappropriate and gross. Twitter[9] user @Spoiled3lf criticized the video and the people in it on May 21st, 2023, earning over 3,100 likes (seen below left), while Twitter[6] user @LegoRacers2 received almost 15,000 likes on May 22nd, 2023, for describing the debate surrounding the video (seen below right).
The Ren Faire video was popularized at the same time as the $8,000 blue couch meme. Several posters made posts commenting on the conjunction of the two discourses, pairing a photo from one meme with text from the other. For example, Twitter[7] user @maidenprincess (below left) posted about the couch using the Ren Faire quote tweet, earning almost 130,000 likes on May 22nd, 2023, and Twitter[8] user @zo1oft did the inverse also on May 22nd, earning over 35,000 likes (seen below right).
