About

#Scrotus + GMod Pose is a fan art and redraw trend on Twitter in which artists draw their OC or sona (persona) in what's known as the GMod or Garry's Mod pose, holding a crowbar as if about to swing it, under the hashtag "#scrotus." The trend began in mid-July 2023 after a Twitter user claimed they had a nightmare in which users were drawing characters in the pose using the hashtag, inspiring multiple artists on Twitter to actually post their art under the hashtag.

Origin

On July 16th, 2023, Twitter[1] user @pablothinghouse posted a drawing of a mock Twitter feed showing multiple drawings of characters doing the GMod pose under the hashtag "#scrotus," writing, "I just woke up from a nightmare where everyone was drawing their OC/Sona in the GMod pose with the hashtag 'Scrotus.' I was literally trembling in fear as I put down my phone, started rocking back and forth, and began hyperventilating," garnering over 74,200 likes and 10,000 retweets in a day (shown below).

For example, that day, Twitter[2] user @Nerd_Zara posted a piece of art to the hashtag that garnered over 1,000 likes in a day (shown below, left).
