Shahrukh Duplicate, also known as Bhay Ye or Bhai Ye, is a meme featuring an image of a confused or pensive-looking man that resembles the Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan (SRK). The image first emerged on the internet in 2014, before being used as an image macro phrasal template meme where the person is made to look like he's asking stupid questions.
Origin
On April 19th, 2014, Twitter user @_Aniket[1] posted the earliest known and accessible image of the subject, a person who resembles Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan (seen below, left). The earliest viral instance of the image was posted to the Facebook[2] page Pakium.PK on April 20th, 2014, where it gathered over 18,000 likes in nearly nine years (seen below, right).
The earliest known meme using the image was posted to Instagram on May 18th, 2021 by @asshhu12,[3] gathering 130 likes in over a year. The meme was reposted to the page @beindian.meme,[4] where it gathered over 6,000 likes in over a year (seen below). The meme translates to, "Bro, where can I find the pre-registration forms for Battleground's Indian mobile release?"

The meme continued to gain traction in subsequent months with Instagram[5] page @baba.ji.official posting a meme on August 9th, 2021, gathering over 3,000 likes in over a year (seen below, left). The caption translates to, "Bro, why did Messi leave football?" On September 3rd, 2021, Twitter[6] user @chittakukkarr posted a meme that read, "Bro, what channel is Money Heist on?" and gathered over 500 likes in a year (seen below, right). The meme was reposted to @fuccckboichodiii[7] on September 4th, where it gathered over 2,000 likes.
On February 2nd, 2022, Instagram[8] page @tube.indian posted a meme that translated to, "Bro, before giving this blood test, should I be studying something?" The post gathered over 18,000 likes in nearly ten months (seen below, left). On April 26th, 2022, Instagram page @baekoof[9] posted a version of the meme that translated to, "Bro, do you only open books to send snaps?" The post gathered over 27,000 likes in eight months (seen below, right).
