Slutty Waist is a slang term and catchphrase used to refer to skinny men with thin waists. The phrase evolved out of fandom and stan internet circles and is often used to describe popular male fictional characters, celebrities and pop stars. The term "slutty waist" is generally used for men and not women, and was largely popularized in 2022 and 2023.

Origin

Use of the term "slutty waist" can be traced back to 2019, with one Twitter user describing "Kiryu" from the video game Yakuza as having a "tiny slutty waist."^[1] On July 22nd, 2020, Twitter^[2] user @staintonguesexc posted a tweet about a character named "Hawk's" slutty waist, gathering over 50 likes in three years (seen below, top). A November 3rd, 2020, thread shows two Twitter^[3] users discussing an anime character's slutty waist (seen below, bottom).

However, the term did not become widespread until 2022, likely due to a viral tweet^[4] posted by @SkinnyTuna on May 4th, 2022. The tweet read, "I'm tired of men and their slutty little waists." The post gathered over 100,000 likes in a year (seen below).

Spread

On October 17th, 2022, Twitter^[5] user @gays1antw1nk posted a tweet that read, "a man without a slutty lil waist is like an angel without wings," gathering over 23,000 likes in nine months (seen below, left). On January 31st, 2023, Twitter^[6] user @nonbinarybooty posted a tweet that read, "no one talks about how difficult it is having a boyfriend with a slutty little waist," gathering over 20,000 likes in seven months (seen below, right).

On January 5th, 2023, TikToker^[7] @bor1sovka posted a video saying "god giving men the sluttiest waists humanity every laid eyes on," gathering over 1.5 million views and 400,000 likes in seven months (seen below, left). On February 8th, 2023, TikToker^[8] @killljoyy posted a video saying, "I want to be a man so I can have huge arms and a slutty little waist," gathering over 2.8 million views and 500,000 likes in five months (seen below, left).
