Soldier Boy Singing "Rapture" By Blondie or Fab Five Freddy Told Me Everybody's Fly refers to a scene from the 2022 Amazon TV series The Boys where the superhero Soldier Boy sings "Rapture" by Blondie during a guest appearance on the 1980s television series Solid Gold. The episode was released in June 2022 and the clip gained viral spread over the following month, also becoming a prevalent original sound on TikTok used in comparison skits where the original version plays followed by Soldier Boy's version.

Origin

On June 10th, 2022, season three episode four of The Boys premiered on Amazon Prime Video.[1] During the episode, Soldier Boy is shown making a guest appearance on the 1980s music TV show Solid Gold. Soldier Boy performs Blondie's song "Rapture" on a golden stage surrounded by background dancers. The clip was uploaded to YouTube[2] on that day by Vought International, gaining over 6 million views in a month (shown below).



On July 4th, TikToker[3] @ciscoviet posted a video using a crying Wojak meme over Blondie's version of "Rapture" and a meme of a kid dancing at the club over Soldier Boy's cover, gaining over 8.5 million views in three weeks (shown below).

On July 8th, 2022, the Facebook[4] page Certified Kino Bot – Cinephile Rebuild posted a color palette summary of a screenshot from the scene, gaining over 1,700 reactions and 300 shares in three weeks (shown below). On July 11th, Facebook[5] page Superhero Fanverse posted a Virgin vs. Chad meme that references the scene, gaining over 17,000 reactions and 3,100 shares in two weeks.

The original sound for @ciscoviet's meme went viral that month, inspiring over 80,000 videos to use it by July 29th. For example, on July 15th, TikToker[6] @maxtaylorlifts posted a video using the sound, gaining over 19.4 million views in two weeks (shown below, left). On July 17th, TikToker[7] @siggisteinnn posted a video comparing images of dogs stung by bees, shown over Blondie's rendition, to images of cats stung by bees, making their jaws look chiseled, over Soldier Boy's rendition, gaining over 6.4 million views in two weeks (shown below, right).
