Wait Don't Tell Me, also known as We're Not Talking About This. Or This. We're Talking About THIS! refers to lines said by SpongeBob in an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants after getting fed up with Mr. Krabs making him run back and forth to buy things for Mrs. Puff. The scene grew popular with remixes, parodies, and fan animations.

Origin

On November 6th, 2002, the SpongeBob SquarePants season two, episode 36b titled "Krusty Love" premiered in the US[1]. In the episode, SpongeBob gets upset after he's ordered to run back and forth to buy things for Mrs. Puff at Mr. Krabs' request, though Mr. Krabs also yells at him for spending his money (shown below).



Spread

In the late 2010s, the scene grew popular with edits and remixes on YouTube. For example, on June 29th, 2017, YouTube[4] user ScottBeebiWan uploaded the parody version of the scene using MS Paint. The video received more than 10 million views in seven years (shown below, left). On January 28th, 2018, YouTube[2] user WaRnEr, the Goobermeister uploaded an edit and received more than 2.7 million views in six years (shown below, right).



On May 1st, 2018, YouTube[5] user Orangepaprika 67 uploaded ScottBeebiWan's video and compared it with the original scene. The video received more than 49 million views in six years (shown below, right). On June 12th, 2018, YouTube[3] user littlelamp100 uploaded a vocoded and piano dub edit, receiving more than 7.6 million views in six years (shown below, right).
