Squidward Eating A Krabby Patty refers to a four-panel exploitable image of Squidward Tentacles from SpongeBob SquarePants nervously taking a bite of a Krabby Patty, then either loving or hating it, depending on the point the meme is trying to make.
Origin
On October 5th, 2001, Season 3, episode 43a of SpongeBob SquarePants, titled "Just One Bite" premiered in the US.[1] In the episode, Squidward tries a Krabby Patty for the first time. At first, he pretends to hate it, but actually develops a strong craving for the burger, breaking into the Patty Vault to eat more patties (scene shown below).
Spread
Starting in 2019, the scene grew popular as an object labeling template. For example, on May 19th, 2019, Facebook[2] user Syaiful uploaded an image about a student trying to skip class for the first time and later getting used to skipping classes. The post received 584 reactions and more than 2,600 shares (shown below, left). On the next day, Facebook[3] user ルーン ウォーカー uploaded an image about an artist who tries drawing "NSFW" content. The image received 587 reactions and more than 3,400 shares (shown below, right).
On May 20th, 2019, Facebook[4] page "Your Waifu is Shit" uploaded an image of someone who tries to read futanari books. The image received 811 reactions and 1,500 shares (shown below, left). On May 28th, 2023, Facebook[5] page "Patient Sixty-Seven" uploaded an image about someone looking into metalcore music, receiving more than 8,500 reactions and 2,400 shares (shown below, right).
