Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is an upcoming platform fighting video game from Ludosity and Fair Play Labs. It is the sequel to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. Though the original had lukewarm reception, trailers for the sequel seemed to reignite interest in the series, as it promised fixes to many issues players had with the first.

History

In January of 2023, images from the development of Nickelodeon All-Star 2 began to leak online. On January 5th, Redditor KlausHeissler09 shared to /r/AllStarBrawl^[1] images that showed a model for Squidward Tentacles, who did not appear in the original game, and a new animation for Patrick (shown below). The post gained over 300 points as of August 2023.

On July 4th, Redditor Own_Philosopher_2008 posted another leaked image of Garfield fighting El Tigre, gaining over 160 points in one month^[2] (shown below). On July 5th, Eurogamer^[3] called All-Star Brawl 2 "the worst-kept secret in gaming."

The game was formally announced on July 27th, 2023 (trailer shown below). It will release on all major consoles and is scheduled for a Q4 2023 release.^[4]

Publishers GameMill promised more characters, downloadable content, improved graphics, and more single-player content in the upcoming sequel.

Online Presence

The trailer reignited interest in the series after the first entry left many players feeling let down. On July 27th, 2023, Twitter user @PowPowSmash^[5] expressed excitement that the developers had seemingly gotten more of a budget for the game, gaining over 45 likes in one week (shown below, left). The same day, user @fatboysmough^[6] said the game looked significantly better than its predecessor, though the tweet didn't see a significant spread (shown below, right).

On August 1st, more characters potentially leaked in a splash art image promoting the game^[7] (shown below).
