About

Random Doom is a Pokemon comic series created by Deviant Art user TamarinFrog (formerly known as BehindtG) that features Pokemon as the main stars. It started out as a series of short joke comic strips, but have now evolved into a big comic series.

Characters

TamarinFrog bases the Pokemon from her "Pokemon Pearl" game and gives each one a unique personality. These include the following characters.

Veruka: A tomboyish Infernape

Vincent: A goofy Lucario (who has a crush on Veruka)

Rupert: A sugar addicted Toxicroak

Ross: A timid Raichu

Scratch: A young and naive Pachirisu (who treats Ross like a brother)

Sibelius: A young and naive Chatot (who is best friends with Scratch)

Saria: A optimistic Leafeon (who is in love with Raichu but to afraid to admit it and visa-versa)

Napoleon: A manly Floatzel

Cotton: A sweet Loppuny (who is in love with Floatzel who loves her back as well)

Edna: A mischevius Mismagius

Matthew: A religious Honchkrow (and is Sibelius' uncle)

Elizabeth: A pessimistic Vespiquen

Danny and Merry: A Sableye and a Rotom who are always theiving

Elisa: Main human character, is the trainer for all main Pokemon characters.

Origin

The first Random Doom comic strip was posted on May 27, 2007, months before Diamond and Pearl got released in Europe.

After 14 of the strips, Random Doom was made into a comic series featuring multiple pages and a story. The first page of the first comic, "Riolu is Born", was posted on February 23, 2009.

Impact

The Random Doom series has become a immensely popular series on Deviant Art and has gained TamarinFrog over 1,000,000 page views and over 12,000 watchers.

The Random Doom Fan Club was created on DeviantArt on January 16, 2010 by users Adam1704 and Axel230. Many of the fandom creations have been compiled into this group.

TamarinFrog herself noticed the immense numbers of fans, and has done things to make her fans more interested. One major thing was a experimental dialouge-less comic that ended up getting majorly popular. She later created other comics to make it canon and it led up to the introduction of a new minor character: Morrigan the Zorua

From the description:
"There are two reason why I made this:

First, to try if I could make a comic without a use of dialog. I chose a pretty dark theme to try that on but I've been playing with this idea some time. Now, I'm not saying what happens in this comic is canon. I'm still playing with this idea because it would affect hugely these two (especially Napoleon). So, I let you fans to choose on your own if this comic is canon or not.

I personally can't decide. I like this but then again... I love the other, much happier, option as well...

The second reason, is to show what kind of comic style I had in mind for Black on White. I will definitely use this long comic layout. As for linearts and coloring, if I had made this how I do RD series, it would have took me 3 times more time. I've never done lineart this fast... Normally, doing a comic this huge would took me AT LEAST 10 - 15 hours. This, took me about 5-7. Consider that.

I'm still working on BoW comic layout so this is not final but this is what I kinda had in mind. I'd like to hear your opinions."

Yes... It just became canon. Napoleon and Cotton have adopted an egg. They are gonna be foster parents! :iconrlyplz:

SO this obviously means that this comic is now canon as well. Napoleon and Cotton are incapable of having children of their own but like many people suggested, I fell in love with the idea that they could adopt an egg.

Note though! These events will happen in far future. The main comic series will not touch this subject in anyway and these events take place after the main series. Just something I'm giving for you fans. :heart:

BUT! What is inside the egg? All I will say, it's a 5th gen pokemon...

"Yes, the baby is zorua. Some of you love this and some you hate this. I know people were expecting something unique and special from me and not something overused as this. Yes, zorua is the poster boy of 5th gen, yes zorua is overused. But guess what? I don't care. I didn't choose zorua because it is popular, I chose it because I honestly love it. And that is the only reason I need. If you can't respect that and still wish to complain about this decision, I'd would appreciate it if you didn't and wouldn't ruin this special day. Thank you.

And the reason why the baby wasn't an oshawott, mienfoo, scraggy or ANY pokemon that I already have in my Black on White comic... Well, looks like I already answered that.

Now Napoleon and Cotton are proud parents of an adorable baby girl zorua. Say all hello to Morrigan everyone! You bet she is gonna give some trouble to her parents thanks to her illusion ability. Gotta say, I really like the fact that now I have pretty much access to ANY pokemon. :giggle:

I'll tell more about Morrigan in future pictures. Now, let's just let her sleep..."

Ending

On April 21, 2018, after nearly 10 years since the series began, TamarinFrog posted the final page of the final comic in the series. With that, she also posted a notice about it, thanking her fans for keeping the series alive and finished.
