The TikTok was originally posted by user @bostynbaker in December 2024 but has since been deleted. That month, a redraw of the slideshow was posted to X / Twitter, inspiring further redraws throughout December 2024 and January 2025.

Origin

As early as October 19th, 2024, TikTokers began posting videos using a variation of the caption, "When he's copying your snaps so you pull this move," then showing themselves flexing as if trying to get the boy they're Snapchatting with to show his muscles. One of the earliest examples of this was posted by TikToker[1] @em..ilyx on October 19th, 2024, garnering over 240,000 views in three months.

Examples of videos using a similar caption about someone copying their snaps exist prior to this, however, this is the earliest known example to specifically feature the muscle flex.

On an unclear date around December 21st, 2024, TikToker[2] @bostynbaker posted a slideshow consisting of three images. The first is a selfie captioned, "When he's copying your Snaps so you pull this move." The second is another selfie of the same girl flexing her arm. The third is a boy flexing his arm in the same way, captioned, "Boom shakalaka yess gawd." The post has since been deleted.

A meme by TikToker @Bostynbaker. The meme shows a girl captioned, "When he's copying your snaps so you pull this move," followed by the girl fixing her arm, followed by the copycat flexing his arm and showing his biceps, the joke being that she tricked him into showing off his muscles.

On December 21st, X[3] user @sunvosu posted a redraw of the slides based on the Genshin Impact ship pairing Haikaveh, garnering over 54,000 likes in about two weeks.

On December 24th, 2024, X[4] user @arisketchz posted a version redrawing the meme with the JuJutsu Kaisen ship pairing ItaFushi, garnering over 47,000 likes in two weeks. They also posted it to Instagram,[5] garnering over 6,000 likes in the same span of time.
