About
When Someone Is So Hateful It Inspires You To Be Kinder, continued, When Someone Is So Kind It Actually Disgusts You, refers to a redraw art trend that uses a screenshot of a TikTok Duet showing one guy smiling and one guy frowning, each labeled with the aforementioned catchphrases. The original TikTok video went viral in May 2024 and the screenshot spread on Twitter / X where the redraw trend transpired. Artists replaced the men and added their own characters.
Origin
On May 21st, 2024, TikToker[1] @wasabi.xml dueted TikToker[2] @kaiserxgod, shown frowning with text reading, "When someone is so kind it actually disgusts you." In his duet, @wasabi.xml countered the phrase, showing himself smiling with David Bowie's "Starman" playing and text reading, "When someone is so hateful it inspires you to be kinder." In two days, the duet received roughly 217,300 plays and 74,500 likes (shown below).
@wasabi.xml #duet with @PAUNAKAISER Kindess saves us. Kindness can change both us and the people we're surrounded with. And on my neighborhood, I swear… until my dream of a world where hope, kindness, and positivity becomes the reality we share- I'll never stop trying. Ever. #hopecore ♬ sonido original – Merge-frxs🧠🔥
