Origin

On October 27th, 2018, an unknown Imgflip^[1] user posted the template for the Worse Than Hitler meme (seen below), which features a still image from episode 11 of the seventh season of Family Guy, titled "Not All Dogs Go To Heaven."

The episode was originally aired on March 29th, 2009, and later a clip of the scene was posted to YouTube^[2] by user jdonl60 on November 29th, 2019.

Spread

The image became popularized as an exploitable meme in the late 2010s and 2020s in which netizens replaced Brian's picture with other notable characters from different types of media or notable real-world figures.

For instance, on November 21st, 2024, Instagram^[3] user @bolts_memes_ posted a meme related to a National Hockey League team (seen below) to criticize a player and the team's coach, amassing more than 286 likes in three months.

On January 19th, 2025, X^[4] user @UncleJimmyBob replaced Brian's picture with a Pokémon character (seen below), which amassed over 302 likes and 36 reposts in a month.
