About

Your Planet Is Now Marked For Death, continued with Can We Ask Why?, is an exploitable image macro format depicting actors Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic and Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman (Sue Storm) being confronted by Julia Garner as Silver Surfer in the 2025 The Fantastic Four First Steps movie. The meme is typically used as a three-panel format in which Silver Surfer tells Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman that Earth has been marked for death, followed by the pair asking why, with Silver Surfer then giving them a reason, typically edited into the final frame. The meme emerged in April 2025 following the release of the Marvel film's trailer, spreading online over the following months.

Origin

The scene used in the meme format originally appeared in The Fantastic Four: First Steps official trailer from April 17th, 2025, during which Silver Surfer appears at one point asking members of the Fantastic 4 if they're the "protectors of this world?" Invisible Woman then replies, "Yes, we are," with Silver Surfer telling them, "Your planet is now marked for death."

The first Your Planet Is Now Marked For Death meme was then posted to Reddit's /r/marvelmemes[1] subreddit the following day on April 18th, receiving over 43,000 upvotes and 810 comments in four months.

The meme notably edits the scene to show Silver Surfer's "your planet is now marked for death" line first, followed by Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman's clip being recaptioned as "Can we ask why?" with the former scene then being repurposed to provide an answer to the question.
