Stanislav Reshetnikov, the Russian YouTuber known as Stas Reeflay who killed his girlfriend on stream late last year, was sentenced to six years of jail time on Tuesday, according to the Moscow Times.

Reeflay reportedly received donations to abuse his girlfriend, Valentina “Valya” Grigoryeva, on stream. Last December, he forced her to stand outside in her underwear, where it was believed that she froze to death, though it was later determined that the cause of death was injuries to the head which she'd suffered from strikes Reeflay inflicted upon her earlier in the stream. Grigoryeva was pregnant at the time.

The stream showed Reeflay bringing Grigorveya back inside and sobbing as he realized she was dead. It continued after the paramedics arrived. At the time, Reeflay was reportedly facing between 2 and 15 years in prison.

A Moscow judge found Reeflay guilty of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced him to six years in a "maximum-security prison colony."

The event drew attention to a popular fad in Russia called "trash streaming," in which users will donate to the streamer in exchange for having the streamer do whatever the user asked. This caused Russian lawmakers to advocate for laws that would prohibit such streams in the future.

Russian officials Vyacheslav Volodin, the speaker of Russia’s lower house of parliament, and Senator Alexey Pushkov both spoke out against "trash streaming" after the incident. "We must introduce such amendments to the legislation that will prohibit trash streams," said Pushkov. "It’s absolutely obvious that we must react. We’ll consider a bill as soon as it is tabled," said Volodin.
