Origin

On May 8th, 2023, a male, ninth-grade student at Dom Jacson Damasceno Rodrigues Municipal School, in Manaus, Brazil was arrested by authorities for attempted murder.^[1][2] A video was leaked from the incident, showing that the student had attacked a female student during a presentation, stabbing her multiple times with a pen.^[1][2] The female student had allegedly laughed at the male student, inspiring the attack (censored screencap shown below). ^[1]

The video went largely viral when it was posted to the /r/PublicFreakout^[3] subreddit by Redditor tyforcalling on May 13th, 2023, gaining over 22,000 upvotes in eight months.

In 2023, content about the video spread on social media. For instance, on June 2nd, 2023, TikToker^[4] @miguel_axel2110 posted a video that outlined the story, gaining roughly 1.9 million plays and 45,100 likes in seven months (shown below, left).

On November 1st, TikToker^[5] @yt_mistermans12 posted a video that showed a screenshot of an unknown Wojak story photo slideshow that outlined the events of the video. The TikTok gained roughly 677,400 plays and 4,600 likes in two months (shown below, right).
