About

Poo Flip Video refers to a viral video which shows a man jumping off a bridge and doing a flip while defecating. The clip that went viral shows the moment happening in reverse, such that it appears the poop goes into the man's butt.

Origin

The clip was posted to the story Instagram account antidrugboys on January 10th, 2019.[1] The clip, played in reverse, features an anonymous man dubbed "Patrick" in New York Magazine's story on the clip, performing a flip while defecating. A reupload of the video was posted to the account on January 29th, 2019.[4]

Spread

On January 28th, 2019, the clip was reposted to Twitter by user P4u1_13,[5] gaining over 51,000 retweets, 135,000 likes and 7.82 million views within 72 hours. On January 31st, blogger Luke O'Neil published a post about the video, but he incorrectly reported the people featured in the video were "Paulie and Keith," both the tweeter and the man mentioned in the viral tweet, and that the flip took place in Liverpool, England. The following day, Brian Feldman of New York Magazine[1] ran a thorough investigation of the video and determined the video took place in the Ulmarra Jetty in Australia, discussing the video with its creators on the condition of anonymity. The New York Magazine story was covered by The Baffler[3] in a roundup of internet stories from the week.
